I get the Intelligent Design Kidney Support food for my dog with CKD. Without any exaggeration, I spend at least 30 minutes per patty picking out pieces of fat. Toxins are stored in animals' fat so why would a food for dogs with kidney disease contain so much fat/toxins? If Darwin's is trying to save money by allowing so much fat in their product, they are short sighted as they should realize that it would serve them financially to keep their kidney support customers alive longer.

I would say when my dog food shows up completely defrosted the week I am leaving town and relying on this delivery, it's disappointing. This is also not the first time this has happened and you have no alternative for delivery. So, I am left with realizing that fir summer delivery Darwin’s are unreliable and I will have to manage my expectations

We have communicated your concerns with the shipping department as well as added additional ice to your orders going forward. First of all I am a retired vet tech so I know how to transition my pet to a new food, I was only offering a teaspoon and my dog would not eat it unless it was mixed with the pumpkin he normally gets with his digestive specialty food, when he did eat Just a teaspoon, he got terrible gas and diarrhea, he's 90 pound so a teaspoon is like nothing. I don't actually think it's the raw chicken but the other ingredients like Lettuce, which gives a lot of people diarrhea and or the oils in the food. I have a diabetic senior cat with kidney disease, I thought I'd also try the cat food for her, she wouldn't eat it, I have 4 other cats who would also not touch it. Part of my order arrived thawed, the dry ice packages were broken open and when I tried to lift out the only small piece left, it burnt my fingers. I reached out to support which did answer very quickly but they will Not give a refund because I bought the first order as a special for first time customers, they suggested I try cooking the food and offer it again. Which why would I do that when it is causing GI upset to my dog. I wanted to use the food only as a topper but can not chance more GI upset to my dog. I guess I'll just put it in the garbage and eat the lost money. If they aren't going to give a refund, they should offer a trial package instead of a 20 pound minimum order. Now I have 20 pounds of food I can not use. Anyway as a vet tech, my colleagues have never liked raw diets or recommend them and now I see why.

you are sending us notifications from a noreply email address. we have always replied to our next order email, stating when we want our next delivery. three times we have replied that we need to have our next shipment delayed until 9/15/25. This has worked in the past, so when did you start using the noreply email? seems like a numb-nuts thing to do, and you have my husband in a furious snit so now, how do we respond to your noreply emails? cheers, Sally Swanson

0 STARS PROFIT OVER LIFE Pet food company refuses to recall products despite young girl’s E. coli infection By News Desk on July 29, 2025 The FDA is cautioning pet owners that a sample of Darwin’s Natural Pet Products beef dog food made by Arrow Reliance Inc. tested positive for E. coli O157:H7 that is associated with a human illness. In addition, one sample of Darwin’s chicken dog food and one sample of Darwin’s duck dog food tested positive for Salmonella Infantis and Salmonella Hadar, respectively. Closed product from the three affected lots, which were obtained from the household freezer of the ill human, was tested by a private third-party laboratory in May and June 2025. In August 2024, a four-year-old child became infected with E. coli O157:H7 and subsequently developed hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), requiring hospitalization and extensive follow-up care. HUS is a serious complication that can cause kidney failure and brain damage. Whole genome sequencing (WGS) provided by the third-party laboratory shows that the E. coli O157:H7 present in the closed product sample of the Darwin’s beef dog food from the household freezer is a genetic match to the E. coli O157:H7 detected in a stool sample from the ill child. According to complaint information provided to the FDA, a dog in the household that exclusively ate Darwin’s pet food began vomiting one day before the child fell ill. The dog’s symptoms resolved without veterinary care. The child had direct contact with the family dog but no known direct contact with the contaminated dog food, suggesting that the E. coli O157:H7 exposure may have been via contact with the family dog or through objects or surfaces in contact with the waste of the dog that ate the food.

Multiple deliveries have been defrosted by the time they arrive. I have had to discard many of the patties. I have requested more ice each time. It doesn’t make any difference. There is never any ice left in the box. I think this is due to the new packaging. In the past when the styrofoam boxes were used, there would always be ice in the box when the shipment arrived.
