For the past five years I’ve been purchasing items from Darn Good Yarn. What first brought me to them was learning that they upcycled used Sari material from India, into new products. They not only create skirts from used Sari’s, and shorts, shirts, dresses, but also many interesting types of yarn. The next thing I appreciated is the company is Veteran and Woman owned small business! Her staff members are great, and are very active in the company social media groups. Regarding the products,I’m a huge fan of the brightness of the materials, they are so cheerful. My skirts are now mostly in our storage, as we are RVers who travel full-time. I travel with 7 of the Sedona patchwork dresses, which is perfect for the warm temperatures we are usually in. The Sedona dress comes around the bust to below my knees, and has a tie up and behind my neck, so my shoulders and arms are bare. Being a larger woman, I don’t always like my upper arms, so I am in the process of using some of the yarn from this company, and making a type of open lightweight shawl for around my shoulders and upper arms. Speaking of which, one of my greatest appreciations with this company is their size inclusivity. My belief is that the sizes go from zero up to a 32. And, if you go up and down in size, the skirts and dresses easily transition with you. Do not hesitate to check out darn good yarn on Facebook, and be sure to say hi to Sam! Their website is very easy to use and find what you are looking for. My only piece of advice is that when ordering a piece of clothing, be sure to use the note area on the order form before you purchase. They are great at paying attention to what material colors you prefer. In my case I would ask for bright cool tones in blues, purple, reds, pinks, or white, black or silver. Then I would capitalize NO browns or oranges please! My understanding is that if you did receive a skirt you don’t particularly care for, or the combination of material doesn’t fit what you wish, that you can contact customer service and they will help you out. It’s really a great company and worthy of support.
