I had a cruise booked for 2020. Of course with what was going on the cruise was canceled. I then received credit for a future trip. All is well...
Now, 2021 comes along. I decided to receive a refund and not do a cruise vacation. Since they were not to sail in 2021.
Cruise.com was able to process the refund. Unfortunately, Royal Caribbean changed their rules and said I missed their deadline to process the refund? Cruises.com was not informed of this deadline. Royal Caribbean changed the rules to keep peoples money. Unfortunately cruises.com was caught in the middle.
Don't plan a cruise until they are actually sailing.
I disputed the charge on my credit card. I am hoping they see into the fraudulent business manner from the cruise line.

Itinerary great, cruise found to be lackluster compared to previous cruises
Arrival very organized, efficient. In our rooms by 1300, bags at rooms by about 1530. All the employees were great, especially customer service desk to book excursions and just to answer general questions. What was of note was the food. Quality way down, as seen in the thin steaks that were served. Food used to be hot upon arrival whereas now it is warm at best. NOT THE SERVERS FAULT! Possibly the servers have more tables to serve or the serving process has changed. Lukewarm soups (except the last night the French onion soup was great), no more table side choices of salad dressings, no offer of fresh cracked pepper. When at the all-inclusives the 'other' restuarants were included in price. Was surprised to have to pay extra for essentially the same food, just a different location. The soda package for $160??? What a joke. No longer are the days when you can get a (free) Coke with your meal. The tea was very mediocre. The dining room entertainment is way over being old, as is the same as on my first cruise about 15 years ago. While we got the cruise (last minute) for a great price, the add-ons are now make cruising a more expensive vacation than in the past. The entertainment was quality for the most part, especially in the Coral Theater. First time on a larger ship but was surprised to still find only 2 hot tubs for 2000 people. People were quite rude by staying in the tubs all day, as well as allowing their children to monopolize the tubs. Children should not EVER be in hot tubs secondary to the health risk, but no one was policing this. Also, the swim pools were not adult friendly. Both pools were filled with children not even allowing for the possibility of swimming laps.
Speaking of children, I am a grandma and love children. Don't understand why parents have to allow their children to run in the hallways at night. Very difficult to sleep with the pounding they created. Was not a very restful vacation.
I have now reached Platinum level for frequent cruising. Very few perks for using same company. Looks good on paper but really only applies if one is spending money on bingo, etc, then it was only for 1 extra card when minimum purchase was $16 for 6 cards/one game. Small discounts on onboard shopping.
Beware booking with Cruises.com. Chose the cruise listed for the one available week from booking site. Promised "free pre-paid gratuities" as well as $100 stateroom credit. When I noted that I was getting daily tip charges, the customer service person allowed me to make a call to web site. Was told that my cruise was too cheap to qualify for extra savings, yet it was the only date available when I went into the window to book cruise. Definitely bate and switch. Will never use that company again. Not the first time I have been 'taken' on this type booking, but will do some extra safe-guarding the next time.

The passenger booked this cruise on our website and booked an interior (inside) cabin at a very low rate. As with all cruise websites, our home page displays all of the discounts which may be possible, but we clearly state that the special offers are tied in to the cabin category that is ultimately selected. And, our website is designed so that as the passenger begins to refine his or her search by specific ship, sail date and cabin type, we clearly list the benefits which are tied into each specific category. On the category page of the booking engine for interior (inside) staterooms), there was no icon displayed for prepaid gratuities because they are not offered with this cabin type. Once the client called, our agent tried to explain this to the client, and we offered to walk her through the process so that she could see how the offers changed based on category booked. She was not entitled to either prepaid gratuities or a stateroom credit, those benefits were not offered at the category level she was booking, and there was no mention of this on her invoice. We did not 'bait and switch' the client; we provide written explanations which detail how offers are tied to cabin categories selected. We are very sorry that the client was not able to ascertain this while booking. Our toll-free number appears on each page of the booking engine, which enables our customers to call us if they have any questions or need clarification on the applicable offer while booking.

No Deposit Required
Booking cruise with cruise.com was fast and efficient. Small complaint was that no deposit required could not be honored even though other sites could. I didn't realize other sites were doing no deposit for the same cruise until my booking was completed. Also, I had a question about requirements if I could not make sail date and what my options could be but couldn't get a call back from booking agent after several messages.

Our records indicate that the this client made the booking through our consumer booking engine on February 22nd for a cruise departing in November. She called our Customer Service department on March 16th and spoke to one of our customer service agents because she wanted to know if she could board at a port other than the port where the cruise originally starts. Our agent advised her that we needed to submit special paperwork to the cruise line because only the cruise line can approve this type of boarding request. We told her all of the information she needed to supply us with in order to make this request on her behalf and she advised that she would call us back with the information if she decided that was what she wanted to do. The client called our Customer Service department on March 17th to find out the last day she could cancel her cruise without penalty, but it was 11PM at night and the cruise line was closed. She was asked to call back the following day. The client called back on March 18th and advised one of our Customer Service agents that we told her she could board the ship in Barbados, and our agent advised her that we did not say that, but rather said that we had to submit special paperwork to the cruise line and needed information from her in order to submit the form. Our customer service agent then advised her that she must make a decision before final payment is due if she wishes to cancel. It seems from the remarks in her booking history that we did answer all of her calls and questions. However, if she still has questions, we urge her to call our great Customer Service team using the number listed on her invoice and any one of them will be happy to assist her with whatever she needs.

Not as good as usual
I usually have an excellent experience booking through cruise.com but not this time. It was only with a fair amount of difficulty that I was able to get the reduced past passenger deposit. Then my confirmation e-mail was sent to an old e-mail address which I asked to be corrected. Not sure why that happened since all other cruise.com e-mails were going to the correct address. I was told the e-mail address was updated but then I never received the invoice.

Service and value is not as good as it used to be
I have booked over 15 cruises over the past decade with cruise.com. Years ago, I would have given them 5 stars for excellent service and excellent pricing. Now I feel the excellent service and patience ends after the initial purchase. The pricing is pretty much the same as what the cruse line offers, but sometimes with a bottle of wine or $50-100 credit as a perk. It seems pretty much a hit or miss, based on the specific travel agent you work with. Many times I needed help with pre- or post- cruise planning. But they route those discussion to a separate team of people, who have NEVER been helpful. To me, in the end, it is a decision.... Do I want the bottle of wine? Or do I want full control over my reservation going directly through the cruise line?

It was just order taking
We booked a cruise, it was just order taking, going through the process, there was no special services to speak of. Lady was polite. I asked about the cruise, any info, highlights? She resent the schedule, ssid, what else do you want to know?

Can't wait to go on our cruise!
The rep seemed very helpful with planning our vacation. My only concern is that I received a couple confirmations and not one was the same as the others. I do hope to get it straightened out, I'm just afraid the OBC will be decreased as in one of the confirmations. $200 on one, and only $50 on the other!
