The platform has mostly back packers from East Europe and USA. These people by an large are homeless or low life in their real life. I tried to engage with some people and found them dirty and free loaders, and in some cases not healthy. Definitely I would not like unhealthy people to use my household things including bed and couch. And to top it all CS does not allow to write any health conditions of a user. So in a way they promote these unhealthy users to visit innocent uninformed host and spread their disease all in the name on guest. Very bad platform … stay away and stay healthy.

If negative stars were a thing, this should have it.. To create an account, you have to login and connect your paypal. Then without upgrading on your own, or them telling you, they will automatically upgrade your account and charge you money without a warning! Don't sign up with them!

How Couchsurfing went from positive to negative Being a newly Couchsurfing member used to be such a positive and enriching experience the 10 months I was active. I I am a verified member with a very complete profile and all positive references and great enriching connections in different countries what the platform is meant for. For exactly one year now I attend the weekly meetings in my city, made a lot of friends and never did anything wrong/against the guidelines. Unfortunately this positive experience changed the last 2 months. Only because of some unfortunate coincidence... On the 19th of december my Couchsurfing account got suspended out of a sudden. Later that day I learned from friends that me mentioning somebody's name who apparently currently is on 'the black list' in my last message at the platform. I was just chatting about my next trip to Naples (with more Dutchies going there) for Napoli Wintercamp with another Dutch Wintercamp attendee who might have extra space and bam! Since I did not know about this person being blacklisted and prohibition to type the person's name beforehand nor did anything that's against the rules myself I was really surprised this happened. I immediately wrote a polite message to the Couchsurfing Support Desk for Technical Difficulties as I was advised to do by an automatical message that shows on my suspended account. I apollogized for not knowing about that person being on the black list and also for naming that person and kindly asked for help. At the moment I am more than 2 months and 5 messages to the Support Desk further without any real answer. The automatical replies keep saying: 'Your request (#1013616) has been received and will be reviewed by our support team as soon as possible. As ticket volumes are currently high, it may take up to three days to receive a reply from us for issues not related to member safety. Thanks for your patience while we get to your request!' Well... this is not accantly happening. No real answer, No reviewed request. The Couchsurfing Support departement did nothing! the Couchsurfing organisation by ignoring me gave me the feeling that instead of the trustable and positive costumer I am, to them I am nothing but a number/ a member with bad luck which they assume to be not their problem and they will not hear or help me. It is really the other way around that I get punished because of somebody else being on a blacklist without me having anything to do with that and then no CS staff wanting to help me! I feel really disappointed by Couchsurfing and hope they can prove me wrong by being polite and answering me within a few days and help me with my account

I was a verified member, so they stole my money for nothing basically. A member accused me of something I never did. I told them it was a false accusation and asked them to remove her comment. They did not take me seriously at all. I thought about sueing them and that member for trying to bring my reputation down but I thought it is better to just leave that stupid place in which so many people who call them travelers just want a free couch. Only, If you want your place to become a homeless shelter, that website can be a good place for that. Don’t believe in community or making friends bs. It is a place where a bunch of homeless are looking for shelters. Full of value suckers who want free maid service, free tour guide service and even free hotel service from you. Don’t fall into the trap.

It is impossible to make them delete your profile. after getting in contact with them and writing several customer service representatives, I see no progress. funny thing is that they confirm it each time but it actually never happens!!

site payant, proche d'un site de rencontre et ses inconvénients. comme d'habitude les plateformes remplacent les rapports humains naturels en tentant de les rationaliser et les "marchander", il fallait s'en douter! nous devrions être capable de rencontrer des personnes dans les pays que l'on visite, par nous mêmes, moins rapidement mais avec plus de plaisir et naturel, sans payer des intermédiaires!

This site will not answer personal mail or phone calls. they suspended my profile and will not answer personal mail They hide behind automatic messages they mail address on there site is incorrect I sent two letters that have never been answered That was in May 2018 the site needs to be disbanded immediatly
