Used to use this website all the time when it was free. Then they changed it, and I paid the supposed one time fee of 50 dollars thinking I wasn't going to have to pay another dime. Like they said. Now they want a monthly fee, while refusing to give you access to your profile. I even paid the monthly fee once to access my contacts and I did sent out about 50 couchsurfing requests for one city. Not one of them was even read. This website is now effectively, dead. It's sad to see a community once beloved and enjoyed by so many people driven into the gutter by corporate greed and idiocy. R.I.P and f.uck you

Got scammed by this website. They took £51 for verification. This was not visible when I joined. I thought I was paying £2.79 a month. I was shocked to see that they had taken £51 out of my account for this so-called verification which is useless. Not good when you consider that many people who use CS are not very well off. I am unemployed due to covid closing my company and this rotten company won't give me my money back for something I did not want to buy.

Paid annual fee to use site and still not letting me into it. Not answering my emails either,wouldn't recommend to anyone.

It's SCAM! They deducted from my payment card 51 GBP for payment card verification (!!!) and they don't want to return the money! Thefts. They cut correspondence and not replying on my e-mails. There is no other way of contact than e-mail. I'm really angry on those cheaters.

This used to be one of the best websites out there, one of the best ideas I had ever witnessed and they have ruined it. I was hoping they’d go back to how things were in time, but it hasn’t happened and I don’t see ANY justification for them to start charging and especially with such ridiculous prices. I consider especially dodgy the fact that you can’t even access your profile now or answer to messages. Those are MY details and I feel my data is not being properly managed if I don’t even have access to my own data.

I had a really bad experience with a host who asked me for money after midnight and couchsurfing did nothing. This guy is still on the platform with good reviews and Couchsurfing don’t care about it. It’s literally a jungle. Also my girlfriend suffered from sexual harassment, sent emails to Couchsurfing and they never replied. Worst app ever!!! Don’t trust it!!!
