The idea and the website itself is good. Sure, some people have bad experiences but it is not necessarily the website's fault. The issue however is that since the past few months or so, the support is non-existent. The website is full of bugs, and it is already very hard to submit a support request. When one does submit a request, the request is right away marked as 'solved'! Even after responding to the original email, the response is added but still the ticket is inactive. I've tried it several times and they never bother to respond.

my horrible couch surfing experience
I decided to go on a holiday to take a break from my horrible everyday life as a KFC manager, a father of five annoying brats and most of all, i was excited to spend some time away from my wife, the reason for that, is simple: I can sense that she doesn’t love me anymore and it’s starting to show. Needless to say i really hate my miserable life. i didn’t have enough money to pay for a hotel stay, which lead me to try out CouchSurfing.
I decided to go to America, specifically the town Austin in the state of Texas. I found a family that were willing to lend out their couch to a 48 year old man. Not long after that, i flew all the way from Kazakhstan to Austin, Texas. When i arrived at the airport in Texas, the host family were supposed to pick me up but i guess they forgot, so i had to wait two hours before they drove me to their house.
When i stepped into their house their dog attacked me. Apparently their dog breed is illegal. Needless to say it hurt like hell! I asked the host family if they could do me a favor and drive me to the nearest hospital, the daughter replied “no” i thought she was being sarcastic so i reacted with a petty laugh, turns out she was not being sarcastic. They refused to drive me to the hospital because they didn’t want their dog to be taken away from them.
I had already spend all my kid’s college savings on this trip, so there was no going back.
The father showed me the couch i was going to spend my nights on. I was disgusted. The couch had brown stains and in addition to that, it had a horrible smell.
After that horrible discovery i went to leave the house, only to discover that my shoes were gone when i went to the front door. I asked the son of the family if he knew anything about my shoes, it turns out the dog ate my shoes, i threw a tantrum and started to yell at the father of the host family “your illegal monster of a dog just ate my Yeezy’s!” he replied with a cold hearted “what are you going to do about it?” He did not seem to give a single care about my expensive shoes. I accepted fate and went to sleep.
The next morning the father woke me up at five o’clock. He told me that he was taking me to a shooting range so i could experience the true beauty, of America. When we arrived at the shooting range, the father handed me an AR-15 rifle and told me to “shoot away”. Shooting with the father was actually a lot of fun, until he handed me an apple and told me to place it on the top of my head and stand still. I refused to do what he told me to do. He then started to threaten me with his gun until i eventually gave in. Luckily he was a pretty good marksman, but it was still the scariest thing i had ever experienced
After this horrible experience i decided to go home early. My wound from the dog also started to get infected. To conclude my Texas experience, America is not a place for guys like me. When i got home, i found a note from my wife saying that she emptied my bank account and left with the kids.

I’m traveling but Couchsurfing doesn’t do what it says on the tin
I’m traveling in Canada and l was hoping to do some Couchsurfing as a new and more real way to experience travel. It’s a great concept, it’s a social exchange.
However it’s been a disappointing experience so far, l was looking for an authentic experience but all lve had is a complete lack of a response from everyone lve contacted. Many profiles are so out of date - over 10 years. Oh well, it’s society nowadays!!!

People are great, but site is f'd.
People are great, how this site just tried to scam 60 bucks out of me to 'Verify' that I'm me is absolutely repugnant. It doesn't tell you it's going to charge you it just says Verify. Absolutely Dispicable.

So far I am not content
So far I am not content;
1- because if we are willing to receive travellers for free why should we have to pay 50 dollars to become a certified member?
2- I registered over 1 week ago, have asked several question which haven´t been answered, and can´t even enter MY phone number, the one that appears in my profile can´t be changed...
It doesn´t seem like a reliable site to me!
