Can you say BULL $$HIT? Can you say 'BAIT AND SWITCH"? The $9.95 rate that Colonial Penn advertises is 100% BS! They offered me a WHOPPING $1,258 policy - that's what you get for $9.95 = 1 unit. This would not even pay for a cheap pine box to be buried in. Colonial Penn is selling you what they call "UNITS", higher coverage = more units = higher costs. 12 units would cost me $119.40 / month for $14,004 of coverage. This might cover burial expenses but there would not be much left over for other expenses and this is much more than $9.95! I have to wonder, if they are attempting to mislead you from the beginning, how difficult would it be to get paid in the event of a claim?

Went online to check rates and was shocked that their publicized rate of $9.95 was only for $1000 of coverage. Of course now they have my phone number, wish I had used a fake one, and they continuously call, even after I blocked the number. They leave messages, same recorded voice every single time. You'd think they would get the hint but no. I'm tired of it!!

My Mom tried to start a premium life insurance policy for 21.90 a month. She sent Colonial Penn a money order in July and she called them today because she hadn't heard anything from them in a month. They lost the money order. The agent she spoke to got an attitude with her, so we got off the phone with her and I called them again. The agent I spoke to was only able to submit a request to find the money order. I was told the money order was not received, but my Mom has the receipt proving she sent it. The agent also claimed Colonial Penn sent a letter last month in regards to not receiving her payment, but we never received any such letter. I cannot recommend it. We are going with a better life insurance agency.

I was looking for addition life insurance go go along with my current life insurance. When an agent contacted me I told him what I was looking to get an extra $50,000 dollar policy. The agent told me that it maxes out at $25,000 dollars and that would have cost me Three hundred and Twenty-Nine dollars ($329.00) a month. I would be better putting that money into my saving or trust account to let it grow interest.

I can't believe the lies they tell and get by with. Johnathan Lawson salary is 400000 a year and net worth of 15 to 18 million. I bet he has incentive to get people signed up and received bonus for everyone he got to call in. 9.95 is around 700. Funeral cost are 10000 or better. Do the math as s to how many units u would need. I can't believe with all the lawyers u c advertising now that one hasn't sued colonial Penn for these people. It's a shame our government won't do anything about the lies and deception. People need to read reviews and stop using them. Put them out of business. Put Johnathans lying ass behind bars and hold on all his assets.

This place is complete trash! They don’t care about the insured or the beneficiaries… They lied to me and told me that the check was being processed, but when I called today, they still said that they had the claim assigned to the funeral home when I explicitly told them that the funeral home that I chose does not take assignments from insurance companies, and that I had to do it on my own… I faxed the death certificate and everything as I was told to do, and nothing was done. Lincoln Heritage deposited the benefit via direct deposit within 48 hours of receiving the death certificate. If you’re going to get life insurance, go through Lincoln heritage and forget colonial pen… They are complete trash.

After watching a commercial numerous times I finally decided to call colonial Penn. The commercial States that they will send a packet with information about the insurance but when I called I was told that's not the way it works I would have to commit before they would send this package I think it's very misleading and I think it takes away the opportunity for someone to compare policies. I did not get the policy as I felt like I was being pressured and that is not what the commercial insinuated. Please be aware when you call cuz this is your practice so that you can prepare yourself. You will be told you will receive no information unless you get the insurance no quotes nothing to base your decision on except what they tell you on the phone . Needless to say I did not get the policy nor am I interested in getting a policy considering this is the way they treat their customers to be . This is far too important to not have the opportunity to create options for yourself. good luck
