Jon Tarella was a great Calculus tutor who helped me with many math topics, especially integrals, which were challenging for me. My HS classroom teacher did not always have time to address everyone’s specific questions during class, so going to Jon was a great opportunity to iron out my individual questions. Furthermore, Jon was patient and understanding, and wanted to know about my class and my teacher’s teaching style so he could best adjust his sessions to my needs. I would recommend Jon to any student who needs extra clarification so that they can be more successful in the classroom.

Jon Tarella is an outstanding tutor. He is extremely knowledgeable and talented. He is very encouraging and enthusiastic about his work. He communicates well with the students and parents. He provided regular thoughtful feedback. He is very accommodating. We could not have hoped for a better experience. We worked with Jon for several years. Thank you very much Jon.

My daughter, Elizabeth, worked with Jon Tarella for several years. It was kind of an accident that we discovered Jon. One day in 2015, my daughter, whom has a learning disability, called me from school crying that she didn’t understand algebra. She was a freshman in high school and very anxious about the transition to a new school and she was falling behind in algebra. I told her we would figure out what to do. That day, I found a tutoring center in town and we went directly there after I picked her up from school. When we arrived, the center was locked. I called and there was no answer. I was at a loss and thinking I would need to contract her school and speak with a counselor to ask for tutoring recommendations. Then a woman from the yoga studio next door came out to speak with me. She saw us standing there and told me that she had not seen anyone at the center for days but she knew about another tutoring center across town that could possibly help. We drove over to the second center, Ivy Learning which then became Collegewise. That started a four year journey with Jon. He helped Elizabeth in so many ways over those years. He understood her and how she processed information and learned. Obviously, he helped her academically with math but then also helped with her with chemistry. He then helped her work on her college essays. When she decided where she wanted to go to college, and she needed a specific score on her ACT, Jon helped her. He was instrumental in getting her through high school and into the college of her dreams. He even worked with her via FaceTime when she started college. She just finished her junior year and got a “B” in college algebra. I am so grateful to him. He built her confidence as well as her knowledge. He was patient and kind with her. It was a tremendous weight lifted from our shoulders knowing she was in good hands. I can’t thank him enough for all that he did to help us.

Jon has been a fantastic chemistry tutor for both our kids during high school. Their high school did not have the best chemistry teacher so he made sure they understood all the concepts and did not miss anything. He is very patient and has a great approach teaching them the concepts instead of providing the answers. In addition, he writes the parents email reports so they know where the kids are standing. Finally, he is such a great guy. He is respectful, fun and very easy to communicate with. We give Jon our highest recommendations - you will not be disappointed and we plan to use him in college too.

I was terrified to take calculus. My tutor was Jon Tarella. He helped me through entire course never failing to make me comfortable asking any and all questions. He would walk through problems with me over and over until I felt prepared with all the material being taught. He was an amazing tutor and I would highly highly recommend him for whatever course you are taking.

Jon was our daughter’s tutor for ACT math. He was so exceptional that she ended up using him as a tutor for AP Physics. His strong teaching methods, patience and understanding of her strengths and weaknesses helped her score extremely well. His valuable insight and consistent teaching style supported her academic success.

As parents, our experience with our Collegewise tutors, particularly Jon Tarella, could not have been better. Jon always kept us up to date on how our daughter was progressing, provided helpful insights, recommendations and strategies that all proved to be particularly accretive. He is a skilled teacher, being able to distill a complex subject and convey it in a way that was relatable to our daughter, all of which lead to building her confidence and successful academic results. Jon was professional, responsive, and a pleasure to work with.
