Our estimate went from $7000 to $21000 and their subcontractors want us to rent a trailer so they can carry everything from the road. 3x increase and they are charging us to get the stuff inside the house! Such a scam company.

Worst Moving Experience
If I could give Coastal Moving Services zero stars, I would.
This was, without question, the worst customer service experience I have ever had.
The most egregious issue was the pricing. I was quoted an amount that was thousands of dollars less than what I was ultimately charged. Conveniently, I wasn't told the actual cost until after every single one of my belongings had already been loaded onto the truck, at which point I had no realistic option other than to pay. It felt like I had been backed into a corner. When I reached out to ask questions or try to find a reasonable solution, the company was dismissive, evasive, and completely unwilling to work with me. Once they had my belongings, they seemed to have all the leverage—and they knew it.
The logistical side of the move was equally disappointing. The movers were late for both pickup and delivery, creating unnecessary issues with both apartment complexes. When you're coordinating elevators, loading docks, and move-in windows, punctuality isn't optional. The repeated delays added even more stress to an already overwhelming process.
The moving crew itself did little to inspire confidence. Crew members openly argued with one another throughout the move, tensions were high, and the overall atmosphere was chaotic and uncomfortable. Instead of feeling like my belongings were in capable hands, I felt pressured, rushed, and uneasy.
To make matters worse, many of my belongings arrived damaged. Furniture was scratched and scuffed, boxed items were broken, and several items never arrived at all. Entrusting a moving company with your possessions only to have them returned damaged—or not returned at all—is completely unacceptable.
Although my shipment technically arrived within the company's quoted delivery window, it wasn't delivered until the very last possible day. Customers should understand that this could mean living without your belongings for weeks, and if your delivery is delayed beyond that window, the company's compensation of just $30 per day is laughably inadequate given the disruption to your life.
This entire experience felt like a company that was far more interested in collecting payment than providing the professional service they advertise. Between the surprise charges, poor communication, late arrivals, damaged furniture, missing belongings, and lack of accountability, I walked away feeling taken advantage of.
Moving is stressful enough without wondering whether you'll be hit with thousands of dollars in unexpected charges or whether your belongings will even make it to your new home. I sincerely regret choosing Coastal Moving Services and would never recommend them to anyone.

This company is a bunch of scammers
This company is a bunch of scammers. I have filed a complaint with fmcsa, the state attorney general, and their insurance bond carrier. They are brokers not movers. Robert Thomas is a master con man and makes you think all is good but in reality it’s all a scam. He then stops answering calls and emails. Then rapid express shows up on moving day and charges more money. However the biggest scam is they have 17 working days to deliver after pick up. Robert Thomas assured that wasn’t the case though, then they say for 1500. They will expedite it . You know extortion in addition to the already 1500 extra on moving day above the estimate. . Both coastal moving solutions and rapid express are scams! Neither company responds to emails or phone calls. They don’t even respond to the live chat online. Not sure how these people can live with themselves.

I dealt with a different person each…
I dealt with a different person each time I called and I got 3 different stories and each time I called each person raised my price.
1. Coastal:,Andy G: $9,200
2. Coastal: Ben, $12,282
3. Loadrans: Eric, $14,054
Coastal subcontractrd to Loadrans who subcontracted to Battery M & S for the pickup and Loadrans then subcontracted to Stanford M&S for delivery.
Pickup was with 2 guys who didn't speak any English which hampered our communication with them and the move.
They didn't log or inventory any item while loading but wanted their money that day. They texted,$3,497 but the contract that was emailed shortly after that, while the guys were still loading, said,$3,947...an increase of $450, both for pickup and delivery...a total increase of $900.
Eric was the foreman and he was supposed to be on site at my house but wasn't...he was in his Denveroffice, but did everything over the phone with his 2 Non-English speaking guys.
They were supposed to deliver our items in 2 days but it took 10 days after constant emails and calls.
Their inventory was short 80 boxes and about 12 large items.
After 1 month, they have still not recovered any of our items and no longer contact me, though they really didn't contact me before anyway. I had to always contact them and the employees with whom I spoke were completely clueless regarding my lost items.
The delivery driver left 2 items that belong to someone else and would not take them back. Coastal and Loadrans have been informed of these items but have not made any attempt to retrieve and deliver them to the rightful owners.
My advice...STAY CLEAR OF COASTAL AND DON'T DO ANY BUSINESS WITH THEM! You will regret it.
Very negative experience!
My rating for Coastal and Loadrans is a NEGATIVE 100!

A very unreliable company
I needed a reliable moving Co. because I had no help. I contacted Coastal Moving and spoke with Brian Taylor who convinced me that this Co. would do a great job and I could call him any time for help. NOPE! Brian NEVER returned my 2 calls needing his help, then, when I was 2 days away from being moved, Coastal called and DOUBLED my estimate. My son tried to talk with the company and they refused to explain the amount or offer to go back to the original agreement until my son said we would sue. The movers ended up tearing open 7 boxes I had packed looking for tools they claimed they needed to use, then I saw them put my hand saw in their cab, when I confronted them, they claimed it was theirs, then said it was packed by mistake and would be with the other items when unloaded, nope, no saw unpacked. An end table belonging to my grandmother which has survived 6 moves in the last 20 years was broken in 2 places. Please, please Don't hire this broker Co., they are absolutely the most unreliable, unprofessional company I regret ever hiring. Learn from my mistake.

I want to warn anyone considering Coastal Moving Services.
I want to warn anyone considering Coastal Moving Services for a long-distance move.
I originally reserved a moving pod because I did NOT want my belongings loaded, unloaded, and transferred between trucks — that's when things get damaged. Before switching to Coastal, I asked their salesman, Daniel Thomson, one question twice: would my stuff be taken off one truck and put onto another? Both times he told me no. He said my belongings would go on the truck, be driven to Austin, and delivered right away. That single assurance is the only reason I hired them over the pod.
Almost none of it was true.
On pickup day, movers showed up hours late, rushed me through paperwork after 8 PM, and told me the price had doubled. I had already put down a large deposit I was told was nonrefundable — so backing out meant losing thousands. I felt trapped and signed. My belongings were then transferred off the original truck, exactly what I was promised wouldn't happen, and as of now they are sitting in storage. That's not my guess — the storage company itself confirmed it.
When I complained, Coastal ignored the actual issue — the false promise about the trucks — and kept hiding behind an inventory dispute. I repeatedly asked them to review the recordings of my sales calls, which would prove what I was told. They claimed to have "retained all records" but never produced them. My BBB complaint was closed without a resolution and without any refund.
If you use this company, get every promise in writing, and understand that what the salesman says on the phone may not be what happens. I wish someone had warned me.

Seriously disappointed in constant upselling
Not even going to lie this was a bummer. At first we thought they would be sending movers not outsourcing them. So once we found out it was outsourced that was a bit surprising. Found out the day they showed up at our house by the way. They gave me an estimate from the conversation on the phone. Turns out there estimate was so wrong that the guys who got here were surprised. Said they needed a minute to talk with their boss and boom. Bait and Switch started. The update was so significant due to the over the phone quote, that it was just time to turn them away. No move that's outsourced should be over 15k like they wanted. No move in my own opinion should be over 12. Just my thoughts. Anyhow no refund on deposit since that's the way they work with same day turn aways. So not only did I pay the original contract fee deposit, the updated contract fee deposit totalling around 4k I'm also out that and now have to figure out how to get my place all the way to another section of the US. While, being in the whole. Plus this was a company I went with due to other veterans recommendations.

Classic Bait & Switch
As many others have said, this is a shady business for sure. They will quote you very low, because they know it does not matter. They'll get you to sign, then schedule the "quality assurance" call a few days before pickup. IIt ends up being another company that actually does the move. That's when they start doubling the cost of the move with fees and other BS charges. They schedule that call late so it's too late to cancel or you lose your deposit. BE WARNED. Check your move inventory very carefully. That is how they get you. You will tell them what you are moving, then they leave off or manipulate the quantities or change the box sizes so it's cheaper on the quote. Then when they do the call or pickup, you realize they did not quote it correctly and you'll pay much much more. I feel like a sucker.
