I hired Coastal Moving Services for an interstate move from NC to FL. I signed a contract and put down a deposit for their movers to come 12/7/25. On 12/6/25, one day before my moving date, Coastal called to tell me that their moving men would not be arriving until my backup date (12/8/25), the day AFTER the moving date between 12-4pm. The actual moving truck driver called to confirm the time and told me that he would call when he was 30 min away. The (new) day of the move, the driver never called. So, at 3:30 I called to ask if he was en route and 30 minutes away. He said he was actually 2 hours away (new eta 5:30). He did not care at all that he had not called me to say he was going to be late, nor that I had now been waiting all day for him to arrive so I could start my move. I immediately called customer service — and they then called dispatch, who informed me that he would definitely be there within the next two hours. He was not. At 6:00 pm, I called the driver again to ask how far away he was, assuming that he would be arriving soon. He said he was STILL two hours away (new eta 7:30). I asked why he hadn't called and how he could possibly STILL be two hours away. He had no answer. I then called customer service again -- and they called dispatch -- who only told me that "delays happen." They were completely unconcerned with the fact that my interstate move was now delayed by TWO days. The driver finally contacted me at 10 pm to say that he had arrived. No explanation, no apology. By that time, based on the driver's lack of communication and undependability, I had already assumed that he was not going to show up and had contacted other moving companies. I did not want this exact scenario to occur once he had all my possessions in Florida, with me wondering where he was and if he was going to deliver them safely. This company is irresponsible and its movers are undependable. Use literally any other moving company.

I'll just write my experience and you guys can take what you want from this. In March of this year I received a quote for moving services based on items I described to be moved, namely a handful of furniture pieces, a large safe, a treadmill and a large quantity of gym equipment. The quote I received was in line with others but the best price so I took it. So begins the saga. On the day of the move in late April they arrived only to tell me that the space allocated in my quote would only allow me to move basically 1/3rd of the items I planned to move. I effectively had to leave all my gym equipment behind because to move it they said it would cost 3x the original quote. Not moving anything ment forfeiting the $2000 deposit. I decided to move the lesser amount of items which turned out to be a mistake. Nearly two months later in June they called to notify me that delivery would be made soon. Two weeks later I'd heard nothing so I followed up. They said they would look into it. Two weeks after that still nothing so I followed up again. They said they would look into it. Finally late July comes around and I follow up again only for them to tell me my items are not only not out for delivery, but they hadn't even left their storage location where they'd been sitting for 3 months. It's now August and I'm still waiting. They offered me 1000 for the inconvenience which turned out to only be just beginning. Fast forward to September and I still haven't received my items. They call me and say delivery will be made on a Wednesday. The day comes and goes and nothing. Then say Thursday, I take the day off, no one comes. Not even a phone call. Then they say Friday which also passes without delivery. Finally on Saturday they show up for delivery. They didn't being any equipment to unload my goods except a cheap dolly. Every piece of furniture they moved was damaged or completely destroyed. They couldn't move my safe or treadmill into my house because they didn't bring the equipment to do so. The owner of the relo company promised he would return the next week to do that so I allowed them to put it in the garage. They didn't unpack anything. They didn't reassemble anything. They didn't remove their trash or moving blankets. Needless to say, the owner ghosted me and never responded to my requests to finish the job. They offered me enough money in compensation for damages and failing to actually do the job to basically buy a couple 6 packs with which to drown my regrets of selecting this company. I attempted to sort things out through a BBB complaint but they dishonestly responded claiming they had already provided me a refund while conveniently ignoring the refund was for the terrible job they had done prior to delivery, and that my complaint was for what they did and failed to do during an after delivery. I have moved almost a dozen times throughout my military and professional career and this group was far and away the most disorganized, incompetent and useless company I've ever had the misfortune of wasting money on.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They are absolute LIARS and will tell you what you want hear just so you book with them. So shoutout to ERIC for lying to me about our movers bringing our stuff directly to our destination! The only reason I booked with them is because Eric promised that they are a company that bring our belongings directly to the final destination and they don’t make several stops like other companies. Don’t fall for his “we’re number #3 in moving service” garbage! How they are even allowed to run a business is beyond me. He will also send you fake reviews praising them which are not legitimate reviews AT ALL! If that’s the case tell me why they set me up with a company that told me they use a semi truck and do several drop offs on the way? I am not upset with the moving company they set me up with because they use semi trucks and that’s their policy. I am upset with Coastal Movers and ERIC for being liars and setting me up with a moving company that does several stops. So because of them being liars I am now forced to stay in a hotel and spend thousands of dollars until my belongings finally arrive. This company is an absolute SCAM! Unfortunately anything that sounds cheap and too good to be true is going to cost you so much money in the long run. Don’t listen to anything they say because they will say whatever they have to just so they can make a sale!

Worst experience ever. I moved from Washington DC to North Carolina. I think that the main issue is that there were a lot of hidden fees that popped up last minute. They do an estimate but don't want to come and actually see your things so that the estimate is accurate. I asked several times if they wanted a video or pictures. They make promises they can't keep because they us third party contractors and they don't communicate with each other. On the day of my move the third-party contractors 51 States Relocation showed up and were shocked with how much stuff I had because they thought it was a smaller job. I don't know why? Then I was stuck having to pay almost double what my estimate was because I needed way more boxes than they anticipated and had way for more household items. They also packed things they weren't supposed to and now I am left to figure out how to ship them back to the owner of my last apartment. They didn't label anything, so I have to go through each box and figure it out. No organization. Also, the contractors told me one thing on site and then it wasn't honored during delivery. Then it wasn't explained that in order to get my things delivered in less than a week I needed to pay an expedited fee. I wrote down a date a week out, and they date wasn't honored because apparently, it's the starting point to get my things but not the actual possible date they can arrive. They never give you the direct number of the third-party contractor, so you never know what's going on or where your things are. I had to beg for the direct number. Bottom line is I would never ever use this company again. There is a lot of fine print, and they claim they have no control over when your stuff will arrive. They charge for everything including distance from the street to your apartment/home. But you don't know that until the moment they arrive and then you are stuck. The customer service is horrible, both at Costal and 51 states. They kept placating me and not answering my questions and the woman at 51 states was very rude and condescending to me. I spent some much money and for horrible service. Horrible experience!

Absolutely complete scam of a company. They give you a quote that is completely ignored when they contract out to a third party company that shows up day of the move and does their own quote which doubles your bill, with no prior notice. We gave a full itemized list of every single item and size of everything by measurement and received a quote but were charged DOUBLE the amount at pick up. Force you to sign the new contract or they will keep your already thousands of dollar deposits and refuse to take your items. You also pay for cubic foot and they won’t fill the cubic foot and say you have to pay for the “air” cubic foot and won’t stack the items up forcing you to use more cubic feet that’s not needed. A estimated quote with every single item listed should not double when picked up.

The worst moving experience we have experienced in 20 years. Buyer beware! In April we moved only 2 blocks, to the same house in California, and contracted Coastal moving services - who initially managed the quoting and preservice well - with x2 thorough inventory counts and full pack/unpack service offered. On the day of the move a new company Loadrans turned up (Coastal Moving's contractor). This is when it got bad...real bad - Only 2 workers showed up, for an entire 4 bed house meaning everything ran late. - in the first 5 mins they asked us for more money saying the quote was undervalued - as such we moved the trampoline (part of the agreed quote/inventory) ourselves to alleviate space. - they refused to do a full unpack saying Coastal had not briefed them on this - where the contract clearly stated this. - They took all day to move and when we were moving to the new property they demanded $3000 cash, or they refused to move us (literally sat in the driveway until it was paid). This was a 35% premium even with the trampoline managed separately - they carelessly used a trolley within the house on our new wood floors, leaving major marks and replacement required - all property damaged i walked through with them and took photos and they said it would be noted for insurance - it was never the case. - they rang 5 mins after they left and said they still had 2 x paintings and would drop them back later - they never did. Coastal and Loadrans then took the best part of 4 mths to agree to a "settlement" - which was substantially less than the $3K extorted form us on move day, and the overall $8K bill - which was expensive vs other quotes. I really detest bad reviews for the sake of it - but these are company's not to be trusted with your most loved possessions. Some advice for next time 1. make sure you talk pre move to the people you are actually moving you. Sub contractors do not care and you have no relationship 2. Read the insurance closely - this cost us an additional $5K of house damage that should have been covered 3. Double check and document everything - i was told the insurance was documented, and then it was never supported. If I could give these guys a -1 star I would. It was a horrific experience that I hope is never repeated. It was borderline criminal what they have done to our house and family with no consequence. Use them at your own risk! This was my fourth move and by far the worst experience of them all. I was contacted by a gentlemen after sending an inquiry and he was a fantastic salesman. He sold me on the company being family owned, how they do the route I was doing all the time (Boston to Fort Lauderdale) and could give a great deal. I sent a extremely detailed inventory list in which we reviewed in depth. I was quoted an estimate and ultimately decided to go with Coastal based on the fair price and the customer service I was receiving at the time. Fast forward to the move, Coastal is broker, not a moving company so about a week out I had to switch contacts to another company and Coastal began to fall out. No problem, was able to get through that annoyance. Now, the day of the move the moving company they contracted out says the estimate I received was way under (the actual amount was over $2,000 more). I immediately contacted Coastal and that's when they obviously stop caring. I was explained in depth the definition of an "estimate" and suggested I leave some of my stuff. Without any other backups and the situation, we had to move forward. After all this I attempted to contact Coastal and they completely fell off, would not respond, and simple just saying "it was an estimate". If you are in the market, I wouldn't suggest going with a Broker. If you do, do not go with Coastal, they are a scam company and the type of people who give the sales industry a bad name.

Cody Russo is a liar and a thief. He purposely lowballed to keep me from using Pod’s. I told him that I had a few household items about 10 boxes and a full dress Harley Davidson. He quoted me about $3,200 and said I would get the white glove service. About a week later someone called from Coastal Services to verify my items. He determined that I would need more cubic feet than originally planned. He also questioned me about my motorcycle. I told him that it was a full dress Harley Davidson that weighs about 800 pounds. He charged me an additional $876. When the moving company came (Loadrans, who are the worst ever.) the driver said that they had me down for a small motorcycle (350cc or less) and that my 20 boxes were going to use more cubic feet than what I paid for. So Loadrans charged me another $1,200. I told him that I felt like he was holding a gun to my head. I had the option of refusing service and losing the money I already paid or paying the extra $1,200. (Extortion) So I paid the extra and they loaded my belongings. To make a long story short I ended up paying $4,200 to have my belongings moved from Las Cruces NM to Albuquerque NM and then back to Las Cruces NM. I called customer service for a partial refund and they gave me an email address to contact for the refund. So far no response. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! THEY RUN A SCAM. BTW all of my furniture was damaged and my motorcycle was damaged too. Loadrans were responsible for the damage.
