Completely unreliable website. From 6/21/25 - 6/23/25 the website was completely down. However, it was just an infinite loading bar, they don't even have proper error handling. For all the brain dead MBAs who see tech as an expense....invest in actual technical expertise. How can you have a banking website down for over 24 hours with no notice to users. I moved all my accounts out. Just google "cit bank login not working reddit" and you will find multiple posts. Don't bank here.

My husband died 5 years ago. We tried getting information from CIT bank back then - sent in the paperwork requested which included his death certificate. We got no response. Due to grief, I decided to try again later. Well, 5 years later we are trying again. Sent in his death certificate again along with my driver's license and the NOTARIZED paperwork. I have not moved - my present address is the same as the address of record. Got an email requesting I give them a call back to verify the account. I called back and they asked me ridiculous questions such as how was the last deposit made. How would I know? He took care of the account and he died 5 years ago. Couldn't 'verify' the account so now I need to wait another 3-5 days for their Estate Department to call me back. Let's see what kind of idiotic questions they'll ask or hoops they will have me jump through to get access to my money. Maybe I'll have to put a lawyer on this just to get my money back. My suggestion - stay away from this bank, especially if you are an older adult at risk for dying. Your beneficiaries will have a hell of a time getting their money out. A high interest rate is not worth going through this.

I have held a large amount of retirement money in CIT Platinum Savings for over 6 years. I received a threatening email Saturday telling me to revise my beneficiary or they would close the account. Their website was down for maintenance all weekend and also Monday morning. I tried calling but was put on hold for over 45 minutes. I am beginning to think maybe the ICE riots have people staying home in the LA area and not going to work. I finally got into my account online and transferred all my funds to a midwest bank and requested all my accounts be closed. Newsome and Bass have LA in a real mess and the California economy is going to suffer. I am pulling all my in vestments out of the state,

The worst online bank. They do not send an email when your account has been inactive and then you have to call and prove who you are to get it activated again. Do not do business with them, every step is painful and you will regret it.

I was opening an account and when it came time to fund the account with a wire transfer, the funding bank had to be verified. After the verification was done a couple days later, I checked to see if there was a pending transfer for the amount I said I wanted to fund the account with. There were no pending transfers showing on their website. I then initiated a transfer for the original amount. Now, there are two transfers and will overdraw the account. I contacted CIT and they cannot stop the transfer they initiated. Very bad customer service.

CIT will not honor their savings account interest rate quote, and will not respond to my calls/inquiries to get this resolved. I qualified for a 12-month interest rate bump on my savings account, but the higher rate will not post to my account. I have called customer service three times and uploaded their own confirmation documentation as proof. I was told that a manager can resolve this and one will call me. Never happened. Update: A few days later, a CIT manager did call me. The issue has been resolved and my account shows being credited at the correct interest rate.

I tried to open an account and was denied. My wife tried and she was denied. We both have extensive banking histories, have lived in our present home for 14 years, and both have credit ratings over 820. They said the the application was flagged but gave no reason for it. Went to another bank offering a similar deal and was approved in 5-10 minutes. Their system seems to be junk. I'm glad I actually wasn't able to open an account with them , I don't think they are trustworthy.

I needed to send a wire transfer for a real estate purchase. CIT Bank is apparently incapable of sending a wire to anyone and will transfer you from service to service for hours, promise to call or email you back and not act on their word. I went back and forth with them for several days and their incompetence made me miss my closing deadline
