What is going on with Uber and Lyft's background check company, Checkr? I worked for Lyft a few years ago and of course, didn't have a problem passing a background check. Drove for about a year, then started working elsewhere and lapsed. Re-applied in May for Lyft and my mind is blown away by the delay with their 3rd party background check company, Checkr. Lyft can't (won't) tell me anything useful other than I have address all questions through Checkr (they seem to be a bot company that can't offer any useful customer service communication). Finally decided to just wait on Checkr's time frame for my background to be completed (which is scheduled for tomorrow). Fast forward to 2 hours ago, and I receive an email that "...your background check has an updated completion date of July 27-Aug 1." In no universe should a background check take this long...when I originally worked for them, my background check came back in 24 hours and after uploading all of my documents...I was working within 48 hours. What is really going on? I am seeing other posters commenting on the need to take this to the media, threaten law suits, etc. But I just wanted an opportunity to earn some much needed revenue while I am in between work gigs. What a disappointment!

Only reason I gave 1 star is that it’s required. First Uber eats job, checkr held my background up and I couldn’t work for them. Then a new job, checkr has paused my background, stopping my livelihood and stopping me from feeding my child. I absolutely hate Checkr and I plan on suing the crap out of them. The most horrible service ever, you guys are trash!

Checkr is an incompetent and evil company. I was denied employment because they didn’t have the right information on file and refused to update it. There is no customer service because they only care about the bottom line, so you have no recourse when they’ve done something wrong.

I am not sure why companies use Checkr for their background check process. I am getting daily requests for me to upload documentation that Checkr should be tracking down. The amount of time I spend doing their work is insane. What makes things worse is that you cannot get a live person on the phone when the documents will not upload. If you are an employer, especially one that cares about the candidate's experience, do not use Checkr for your background checks.

I have called them. Spent over 1 hour on hold and a representative never came on the line. They are the worst.

If I could give this company zero stars I would. As somebody who has spent 3 MONTHS waiting for checkr to complete my background check so I can drive for Uber eats, I think this company needs to come up with a better system. They don’t have a customer support team, but I had the option to file a claim and request help. When I would file a claim and request help, which I did multiple times, nothing happened. I could’ve made a lot of money delivering for Uber eats in these 3 months, but I haven’t made a penny because of this company.

They destroyed my life! I had been working for Shiftsmart for 8 months, getting promotions, and even training people. Then one day I was not allowed to pick up shifts due to something that came up on my background. After over a week I finally got ahold of someone and they said I have two criminal counts out of Michigan. I live in Texas and have been to Michigan twice my whole life and never had any issues. I have applied to multiple other gig jobs and they all use Checkr. Because of them, I now sleep on the floor of my disabled mother’s one bedroom living room floor. Now I have no clue how I will pay for my meds. The ceo is worth 2.2 billion so he could care less the hundreds of lives he has ruined. I signed up for Uber but because they changed the pending date 5 times without me being able to work, my car is gone. In the mid 2000’s I could get a background in a couple of days. I HATE this company with every fiber in my being! I have filed a complaint with the BBB and contacted an attorney, Find one that will go after federal companies because checkr has federal backing of course.

36 calendar days and counting…. Checkr is completely incapable of completing a background check in a reasonable time period.
