I have had Spectrum for over a year now and have been paying for 100mbs of internet and have only been getting 23-25mbs. This has been a problem since I signed up with them and their only solution has been to "reboot" my router, which actually made it run slower. Not to mention my bill continues to go up while my speeds get slower. I will be switching to WOW or another provider in my area, Spectrum is AWFUL!

Dysfunctional service management and…
Dysfunctional service management and billing. This company abuses their monopoly privileges and will protect their own incompetencies to the end. After ordering a "stop service order" because I was moving from my apartment in Central New York and ordering new service at our new address, they continued to bill my old address regardless of my order to cancel service at the new address. After speaking to at least 5 reps in 2 hours (continuously), they could barely figure out which division covered my old address (it's only been 2 months)
It also appears that they stand behind the continuous billing and won't admit that the rep made a mistake. I wrote to my attorney general and hoping to at least have them release the recorded phone call with the original rep to reveal my stop service order. In, addition, I totally wish that Fios was in my area as I would switch to them in an instant, especially because the upload speeds are way faster and cheaper. That being said, we have a second apt we are now subleasing, but we pay for internet from Spectrum in Brooklyn, NY, so you can bet that we are going to switch to Fios there very soon. I'm also forwarding my review to the local BBB. One more thing, the service rep at Fios gave me the number for engineering and will see if I can work out some way to get the competition in this neighborhood somehow.

There are a multitude of If you have any other choice, it's better than Charter/Spectrum!
There are a multitude of reasons why they have a solid "F" rating on the BBB and barely over 1.0 here. Sign up at $40 a month, they actually charge you $55 and six months later is goes up to $95. Tell them you've finally had it with them and terminate service, and instead of refunding your overpayment, they actually try to charge you for two months of service you didn't receive. If you have any other choice, it's better than Charter/Spectrum!

SPECTRUM/CHARTER DOES NOT PRORATE
My experience with Spectrum Internet was always mediocre. While they were responsive with hooking up service and the install tech was a decent person, the service itself was on the low end of what I would consider to be a good value. Other providers in the DFW area, Grande in particular, offered much higher speed packages with better pricing. I had used Grande in another home and it was great customer service and excellent value of speed vs. price. With Spectrum, 200 Mbps for 75 -80 a month is a mediocre value. I had service outages more than once.
Fast forward to time of ending service. I had sold my house and would be closing a short time into the next month. I was actually contacted first by Spectrum to ask if an new service connection request was valid. I stated yes and that it was OK to disconnect my service that day or the day before. It would have been 10 days into the new month. On the first of the month, I had my granddaughter in front of the computer ready for an online school day, and I discover there is no internet. I do some quick trouble shooting and determine I am not getting any internet service. I was able to get a temporary setup for her while I was on the phone with Spectrum. Somehow, the disconnect for my service was put in for the first and not the 10th. After some working through the process, service was connected. 5 days later I was looking at my bill to determine final payment and the bill was for an entire month and the dates on the bill were for the time period after my service was to be disconnected. I called Spectrum and that is when the fun began.
Over the course of the conversation, the agent informed me that the dates on the bill were wrong and that I was actually being billed from 1 to 30 of each month and because I was into the new month, I had to pay for the entire month. I asked if they were going to pro rate the unused days as obviously, after the 10th, I would no longer be at the service address. The agent stated "We don't pro-rate, as we are an entertainment company." What?! The name of the service is "internet service provide." How is it entertainment. I argued with the agent and actually asked for the supervisor who kept just saying "we are an entertainment company just like Hulu or Netlix who bill for an entire month with no proration." This is not a fair comparison because each of those services you can take with you through an app for the remainder of the month. A hardwired home connection is not portable. Big difference. I refused to pay and immediately disconnected my modem and told them to take me off their service now. I even used the following example: "What your company is doing is the same as if I pre paid $30 at a gas pump, only pumped $15 and when I went to get change, I was told, sorry, we aren't giving you the other $15 back."
I waited a month and called back to resolve it. Offered to pay for the 5 days. No go. I spoke to a supervisor again. He gave me some details. In Aug, Sep, Oct of 2019, Spectrum decided to change their billing practice to no proration and apparently published it in a monthly newletter. Not to shift blame, but I don't read those. I login every month and pay my bill, ensure it is correct and that is it. As I talked with this supervisor he also stated that the feedback from a multitude of other customers was the same as mine, expressing extreme dissatisfaction at the practice. Another point through this is that during the dissconnect, reconnect fiasco, nobody even took one minute to point out that there would be no proration. I would have left the service disconnected if they had. What this now begins to look like is a greedy corporation taking money from everyday people.
i admit that if I were attentive to the newsletters, I might have known ahead of time. I will accept the blame for that. But in the end, does that change the fairness/correctness of their policy? I would also ask, do they do the same thing with their Spectrum Mobile. I certainly wouldn't even consider it now because of this experience. So be warned, SPECTRUM WILL NOT PRORATE AND THEY ARE INFLEXIBLE ON THIS, EVEN WHEN THEIR OWN EMPLOYEES KNOW IT ISN'T RIGHT AND ARE GETTING BEAT UP LEFT AND RIGHT FROM CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS.
Feel free to forward this to anyone you know using Spectrum.

Internet service is terrible
Internet service is terrible even though we are supposed to be guaranteed 200 mbps. We barely clear 100, and the router kicks off all devices on it every hour or so. We called Charter to come and fix it, and they said nothing was wrong and then left. Absolutely terrible company, and terrible internet providers.

I went inside the store to sign up for…
I went inside the store to sign up for internet and cell phone service, but after leaving dissatisfied with the rate (I thought I would be given the intro rate advertised, but only at the very end become aware that I wasn't) I left and immediately found a better deal elsewhere. Within the hour, I called to cancel with Charter/Spectrum. I was assured that cancellation would not be a problem, and if I were to receive a cell phone package, to simply refuse the item. I did just that, but they still deducted $10 from the shipping cost. I think nothing more of this transation. A couple months pass, and I'm sent a $80 bill from a collection agency that no one can explain to me. I have the receipt of my cancellation and the other provider I signed up with dated. I'm not sure what they are "billing" me for as I didn't use their services. So far, nobody has been able to answer my question concerning this bill, when I call they deny any charge, yet I'm still sent letters and mail for payment. Be wary of this company.

AVOID Spectrum
Avoid this company like COVID! I ordered Internet and two techs came out to my house and both said they couldn’t do anything because the line from the other side of my road was connected to my house. They never did anything so 30 plus calls later and 2 months later. Still no internet and I can’t even get a supervisor to call me back. I finally gave up and canceled today. AVOID this company! A supervisor named Mark Hefler from Rochester dispatch never called me back after 5 voicemails.

Spectrum's Fraudulent Activities!!!
I reported Spectrum for committing fraud against my account they have the nerve to try to bill me for ZERO Internet Service. They tried to be slick on April 5, 2020 claiming they had a 2 month free internet service offer and once I gave them my address to see if any former resident in my apartment ever had Spectrum the liar name Chad on CSR phone line replied that my apt. was 110% serviceable and then claimed I'd receive the gadget in 2 days. When I asked what does 110% serviceable mean? He clearly stated that there were several people who formerly lived here who had internet service.
Long story short Chad lied about everything so I ensured to inform Spectrum since 4.7.2020 via phone that I wanted my internet service shut down asap since I discovered nobody in this apt. where I live ever had Spectrum through a customer service agent name Celene who apologized for Chad's error and told me to go to the store because she cannot shut down my acct. She also disclosed that former residents from my apt. had Fish Dish Network so that is why I currently cannot use the Spectrum gadget. Ultimately, I made too many visits to that store but shut down my account as of 4.8.2020 and returned the store gadget by 4.8.2020 & the shipped gadget asap by 4.10.2020. To make things worst these folks today 7.22.2020 are expecting $65.85 as the Great CROOKS that they are charging me for ZERO Connection & ZERO Service. Hopefully their CEO Views what happen here and clears my name from this mess.
