My mother is 95 and needed extra help. Having used an agency for help I soon realized that the money was going quickly paying them $20.00/hour and we may not have enough money to finish out her life time. While Mom was in rehab one of the physical therapist recommended care.com. While I was a little hesitate I decided to give it a try. It was easy to set up and in one months time I had 50 something people reply. I picked one and have never been more happy with my choice. I am interviewing someone today and hope she will be as good as my first hire. I will definitely use Care.com again for any other needs we have.

I contacted 12 individuals from the Care.com website. Even when using the website email/calling during times listed on the site, only 3 of the individuals responded. One indicated she wanted the job, but did not present for the interview with no explanation, one did a phone interview and accepted the position, but did not show the first day of work. After 2 weeks she called and said she decided to leave town and sell her mother's house instead. The third said she had not expected someone to call "so soon" and that she was in the hospital with a problem pregnancy and unable to work. It seems there is no screening of the people on the website. Also, the website claimed background checks/other information would be provided upon request. Each time I attempted to get this information, I received a "no information available" message.

Complete waste of time, money, and mental effort. I thought that I would find reputable and responsible people who care about kids and are reliable, but that is not the case. What I found is people who don't respond, are not courteous, have a sense of entitlement, and who think they should make more money than I do (and I have two degrees). I firmly believe in overpaying good babysitters, but cannot possibly pay more than I make, AND could not possibly hire anyone who is not responsible, reliable, courteous, and respectful. Complete waste of my time, money, and a drain on my mental effort.

I've been on care.com for about 6 months and I've gone through 7 nannies. All but one has worked out but she went on to further her career so finding someone else has been a constant inconvenience. Some have not showed up to interview, just stopped showing up and lied on and during their interviews. I would at least ask that you truly review their profiles to make sure at least some information is true. I do not recommend care.com to anyone and would rather tell them to ask a friend because they would be more reliable than anyone on here. I live in a military town where there's a lot of people looking for child care so to not have something so assuring as care.com to help after all these so called great reviews is a let down.

Maggie is wonderful on several occasions but she could not be of more assistance. No. Ine else has responded.

I advertised for five years for a companion for my son, in the newspaper, on bulletin boards, and at colleges, and never had a credible response. I didn't know care.com existed or I would have posted one there. Within two weeks of my ad on care.com I found two excellent companions for my son, who has a developmental disability. They have been with him now several months and he is so happy to be with people near his age. They are helping him to converse, interact with others, partake in events in more meaningful ways, and gain confidence. I also found a wonderful pet sitter for when we went to Florida. She took great care of our pets when we were away. Without her, we wouldn't have been able to enjoy our vacation as much. All services are reasonably priced as well. So happy to have found care.com.

I have had several people respond to my job listing and then when I respond, I never hear back from them. I. one case, I exchanged several messages and spoke to the candidate on the phone. we were strangely disconnected and then she just ignores my calls back and my messages. I still have not heard anything back from her. it would of been courteous for her to tell me she decided the job was not right for her instead of just ignoring me. very unprofessional. I still have not found anyone tidily he position.
