Great customer service but requires A LOT of patience to process claim
I flew with American Airlines who lost my luggage on the way to my destination. After over a month, they declared it lost and lied to deny my entire claim saying I provided a fraudulent recipe, accused me of being a fraud, and rudely hung up on me while I was talking. Luckily, I had purchased the flight with my Chase Shappire Preferred credit card which offered lost luggage reimbursement. It took quite some time to receive the compensation (my took about 3 months), but the customer service is excellent. Almost every representative I spoke to was able to answer my questions and assist me in a polite and friendly manner. Some even listened to what had happened to me and how much of a headache it was processing my claim on their website. They were very understanding, and I recommend calling them right away if you have issues. It is best to talk to them than figure out how to process the claim on your own. I received a fair compensation that I probably would never receive from American Airlines. Thank you Chase and eclaims!! It is worth having the Chase Shappire Credit Card as their benefits are pretty good and I think better than other credit cards. Now the downside, not enough clarity on required documentation needed for claim. Make sure to go on the eclaims website to see what you need and just call them when you're not sure. I found info on the Chase benefit pamphlet was lacking information and best to refer to the eclaims website. The website does not work well and there is no save option. I literally sat on my chair for 4 hours completing the form and listing all of the items lost, date purchased, and amount paid. I was so happy to upload my documents and when I clicked submit, I received an error message. It is best to talk to a rep about a solution. Luckily, I saved a print document of the form and uploaded this on their website. They told me errors usually occurs when you upload too many documents. This honestly got me so upset that this information wasn't provided to customers before they file their claims via their website. I would have then been more cautious using their website so not to get an error msg. Be ready to re-submit documentations. I think it is something with their website. I was asked to re-submit via email instead of their website. Supposedly, the claim examiner couldn't open the documents from the website. This makes me wonder why they even use the website when it doesn't work well. At one point, they had asked me to re-submit documents I already re-submitted!! I called a rep asap and spoke to a wonderful rep who helped me bring my case to a senior claim examiner. At first, she didn't understand my issue, but after I explained the issue, she handled it very well! Don't expect to hear back when they say they will! This was the most annoying part when you hoped to hear on an exact day their decision on your claim and you left refreshing your email to see if you got an email. Also, don't bother calling because they will just tell you that it takes time and you will get a decision when the claim examiner gets a chance to read your docs. If you just be patient, provide all of their required documents (even if you are missing some receipts, they tell you it is ok cause who still keeps receipts for things they brought!! or even get receipts sometimes), and consistently keep in touch with them, you will most likely get compensation if they deem your case is valid. On a side note, I highly reccommend to anyone not to fly with American Airlines. It has been 5 months since the incident and I have tried contacting them and they just keep saying there are discrepanies to deny my claim. I told them I could prove the receipt is real, but they would not hear any of it and just hung up. They continue screwing over other customers - check their twitter page. Save yourself a headache and spend more to fly with an airline that cares!
