As Purchasing Agent at my company, I shop for the lowest price with equal or better quality. Estimators get pricing and request a PO to be sent to supplier. After seeing the quote given to me, I went shopping myself. I bought 1000 stainless steel cable ties for less than $200. Quote from another company was triple that. The estimators get mad at me for bargain shopping behind them. President doesn't, because it means more profit for our company. The quality of the product is better, also.
