It’s not user friendly at all. And now things are so messed up, I don’t know how to fix them.

meh...
Everything I ask about is always “coming soon.” When Buildium does tell you their deadline, except to add 2-6 months. Really great for basic accounting. The admin functions of the industry are lacking.

Leaving after 4+ years
When we first started with Buildium 4+ years ago, they were the most affordable, cloud based software with excellent customer service. It has gradually gotten worse, every year, and now they are downright awful. They take zero accountability for issues that cost their paying customers money. We had SEVERAL issues that were software glitches, or errors on the softwares part, which caused us to be charged, and every time they told us they would not be refunding our money (even when the amount was <$5, and even when it was 100% caused by Buildium). We had multiple, multiple issues with the software that the support team basically just told us "welp, tough luck." They also started marketing a much more expensive subscription, which promised several improved features. We chose to upgrade, and have never been able to use A SINGLE ONE of the promised upgrades due to problems on THEIR end. They were aware of the issues, and instead of correcting them, or allowing us to switch back to the cheaper plan, they told us we were locked in (unbeknownst to us, as our original plan was monthly), and we have now been paying the much higher rate for a year, without ANY USE of ANY upgrade. We are now paying much higher rates than several of their competitors for an "OK" product, poor customer service, terrible accounting system, etc. all while paying additional fees monthly for software glitches to keep OUR end user happy. We have absorbed so many fees as a company because of buildium to keep our Owners happy, yet they have NEVER taken responsibility for one. We would be out of business if we treated our Clients the way they treat us. It's a no brainer that we will be cancelling our contract which we were duped into with them and running happily into the arms of another provider. Counting down the days until we are free.
It's a shame because I was their biggest cheerleader initially, it's unfortunate they prioritized their greed over Client satisfaction.

Buildium used to be a lot more …
Buildium used to be a lot more user-friendly. I will say that things have changed recently with their "New Features" and "Complex Billing". Units used to be $1/unit but now have lots of different factors to make the billing complex. Expect to pay $2+/unit down with their complex billing schemes. All the "New Features" have their own unique prices and for whatever reason, they justify everyone having to pay more despite the features also having charges.
Today we were contacted by one of their competitors which somehow it appears they sold our information to. Their competitor had our phone number, email address, and other contact information. After a 20-minute phone conversation whereby they couldn't explain some of their program's benefits they sent information to our email on where to go to view the business's videos to make the switch.
Their competitor swears up-and-down that we will save a ton of money if we switch. But after a couple of years of using Buildium, I am currently reluctant to make the move. Originally we choose Buildium because their prices were $1/unit and it was competitive with the market. Now they are charging more than most.

We have been using Buildium for a few …
We have been using Buildium for a few years to manage single family homes, HOAs and vacation rentals and just came across a major issue. When paying bills I always rely on the built in safety feature which is supposed to prevent you from overdrawing funds from your bank accounts. When paying bills by check, I always choose the option that states: "Only include bills that can be paid with available rental owner cash balances". This is an option when paying bills for HOA and I always though that this was a safety feature for all bills until one of the HOA bank accounts was overdrawn by $4,000.00+. I was shocked and could not figure out how this could happen. When I called Buildium customer service, the representative seemed a shocked by this as well and had to double check with a supervisor.
Why would this safety feature be an option when paying HOA bills, when it actually does not do anything? This is a major glitch and should be fixed or at least the safety option should not be there when paying bills for an HOA.

Hi Vida,
Thank you for taking the time to write this review, and for giving us your honest feedback. We're taking the issue you're describing seriously, and it has been brought to our product team. We are currently working on having this functionality updated to include HOAs. Once again - thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Good Product but Poor Customer Service
While I enjoy the product I have been very disappointed with the level of customer service. The problems or questions have all been answered and taken care of, but I have to wait on hold for 30 plus minutes at a time. If I leave my name/number for a call back it takes hours. The recording always says it's their busiest time of the year, meaning they lack enough help and you will always have to wait a long time to talk to someone.

Hi Jason,
We regret to hear that you’ve had such a negative experience with our customer care team. We really pride ourselves on our ability to deliver fast, friendly, and effective support to all of our customers.
We recently expanded our support hours, and continue to hire more customer care agents to keep pace with Buildium’s growth. We strive to consistently provide exceptional service even during our busiest season. Unfortunately, we just didn’t meet our standards this time around.
I will be reaching out to try and make this right for you. In the meantime, you can visit http://buildiumstat.us and http://buildium.teamhively.com to see real-time phone wait times and customer feedback.
