The service was fine. I placed an order and received a walking stick. The quality of the assembly of the brass top piece to the stick was lacking. Evidently the assembly craftsmen and the quality control person allowed a gap between the stick and the lower brass attachment point. This approximately 1/8 inch gap can be a snag/catch point.

My daughter purchased a cedar walking stick from Brazos 4 years ago, and I never used it, The Brazos cedar stick, even though it was attractive, was heavy, imbalanced with too much weight in the lower end of the stick and had an an unnecessarily large, heavy, black rubber tip cover on the end. I should have returned it, but I did not. I have since sanded the whole stick down so that it is lighter and can accommodate a 3/4" tip cap at the base giving the stick better balance and usability. In my opinion, heavy walking sticks are unnecessary and detract from hiking/walking experience.

The spike screws out after only a few minutes of use and the rubber comes off immediately. Can't get the spike to work properly without lock tight. The brass is sturdy though.

I prefer a round walking stick, not a rectangular walking stick. I ordered and received a Backpacker Oak Walking Stick. When you look at the photographs, the stick looks round but is actually rectangular. Some like it I guess, but I just don't care for it. I then went and ordered a Ash Stained Walnut walking stick from Whistle Creek. In my opinion, it's actually a must nicer made walking stick and, yes, it is round. Hope this helps.

After about 6+ months, the best stick you have as far as strength goes is cracking. I am really not very happy with it, especially for the cost. I have had way cheaper sticks that have lasted longer. It is a beautiful stick, I just is not lasting, and it is a lot of money to have it not last longer
