I wish I could give them less. I ordered 7 books almost a month ago most are in stock 1 is a preorder and 2 are limited availability with a restock set for a week later. I start getting them one by one then all of a sudden 3 that are part of the same series ,the two that were limited availability and one that was in stock, are backordered and they don't know when they'll be back in stock. I contact them twice by email to ask how long backordered items usually take and received no answer then I woke up a few days to find out they cancelled one of them. They were in stock when I bought them how is this even fair? I get that when a book series is popular it's easy to run out of them quickly but at least be truthful on your website about it and have the decency to reply to emails when the person has been waiting almost a month.

Poor service from the very beginning. I ordered a book that was presumably available, then received notification that it was on back order one week later. Then, in another week, they report that the book was not available. Will not bother to order from them again.

I love shopping in Books a Million stores, but if you plan to order anything online PLEASE find another book store, I recommend Barnes and Noble, or a retail store such as Target. I ordered 3 books on November 27, 2020. Apparently all three items were back ordered even though on Dec. 7, they were all labeled as "in stock" on their website. I contacted customer service and they said I should expect 2-4 weeks for a back ordered item. January 6, 2021, I finally receive the first book. Today, I was notified that one of my books was completely cancelled from my order because it was "no longer available". I am still awaiting the third book, a month and a half after I made the order. Along with this, their customer service has been horrible as they replied to a question that I had about a month later after I sent the email. Please just spend the extra money and order online from a different company. This experience was disappointing to say the least

If I could give less than 1 star I would. Customer service line was appalling. Website is a load of bull, and the local stores management staff have the worst attitudes. Avoid at all cost

BAM site offered a nearly impossible to find book as in stock at limited availability and so I had to order immediately. I did and my order was placed on back order (4 to 5 days, or as much as two weeks). After two weeks I was advised that my order was cancelled. I am waiting for my refund. They obviously never had the book and were cavalier in their indifference as to whether it was obtainable at all.

I ordered a book on 12/24 that their website said was in stock and would deliver in 3-5 days, which is why I ordered it. On 12/27 I received an email that said it was on back order and could take up to 4 weeks to deliver but that delivery was not guaranteed. Today, 1/2 I found the book at a local bookstore so I tried to cancel my order. The website says that it cannot be cancelled because it is in pending status. So, I called the 800 customer service # and was 32 in the wait queue which was anticipated to take 76 minutes. I decided to wait on hold while I watched TV. I got to 8 in the queue at 2 hours and 4 minutes only to get a message that they are currently closed. The message said their business hours on Sat are 10:00-6:00 CST and it was 1:58 MST at the time so they should still be open. While I was on-hold, I decided to google “books a million reviews” and saw all of these horrible reviews. Obviously this is not a legitimate company and I would absolutely warn anyone against ordering from them. I’m going to call my CC company to see if I can stop payment as they have already charged my card. BEWARE!!! One last thing, this website says that books a million has not responded to negative reviews in over 12 months so that tells you something.

I placed an order for (2) cookbooks from Books-a-million back on 12/14. Originally, these were supposed to be shipped out in 3-5 business days. This was the lead time listed on the items webpage which was the reason why I purchased them. I also called to confirm that they would likely ship in 3-5 business days and I was told yes they would. I checked back on the listing page a few days ago and the shipping information said it would now be shipping in 2-4 weeks. I tried reaching out via online chat and on the phone to check on this order and they kept telling me it was pending and that they had no status update on the product. They could not even tell me a rough estimate as to when they would ship but just that I was in the queue and they would be shipped out in the order that the orders were received. The customer service was HORRIBLE.. rude employees and short responses but always had a Thanks for reaching out and it was a pleasure to help you automated message at the end of our chats which was the only pleasant thing about the conversation. I cancelled my order and will NEVER be purchasing anything from this site again.

I have contacted BAM 5 times, through various means (online chat, phone call, email) in regards to an order that I placed a month ago which has remained in a state of "pending" since I submitted the order. I have never received an answer as to where the books are or if they are ever going to be send. I keep being told they are "in progress" but no date has been provided. I contacted them so many times because they do not respond to email. Further, when I phoned, I sat on hold for more than 30 minutes and when I was first in cue, I was disconnected. I did get through on a second phone call, after about 20 minutes, and was told the books were "pending" with no date as to when they would be sent. HOWEVER, they did charge my credit card for the order. I wanted to give someone else business besides the huge behemoth called AMAZON, but now I know why AMAZON is a behemoth--they actually send orders. WHERE'S MY STUFF!!!??? And if it is not coming, JUST TELL ME!
