As a first time author I did not know what to expect of the process for interior formatting and book cover design for my book “Navigating Nursing Homes”. I did not realize how much work goes into a book after you’ve written it! There were weeks of back and forth communication and several drafts before the finished product. Bookmarketeers were always responsive and professional- typically responding back to my comments and questions within hours or less. I had to keep an ongoing list of features I wanted formatted into the book that I had not thought about before (margins, fonts, drop caps, quote boxes, headers, spacing, page number placement, etc-nothing is standard when it comes to interior formatting). As we worked through drafts I had to make sure all features continued to be correct and after several weeks we arrived at a beautiful final product for interior formatting. My complaint is that features that were already addressed would then disappear in future drafts and I would have to keep an eye out to make sure they were readdressed. But, They always did what I requested and were able to provide some feedback whenever I had questions about industry standards, but again, nothing is really standard. The book cover design process was also long. It helps if you have a clear vision of direction and they can work from there. I did not, so it took a long time to arrive where we ended up. But after all of it I am very happy with the finished product.

Chris at Book Marketeers made it very simple to work on the cover for my book, The Washington Caliphate. He not only provided his own expertise, tradecraft and experience, but he also listened to my suggestions, which is important to customers. The book cover emerged exactly as envisioned, and looks enticing.

It can be very expensive to do a cover—this is a great option for self published authors who have a good sense for what they would like to do for a cover without breaking the bank. Adam Smith had a great cover image which we used from the start. We found a back cover image and Adam was able to use it. All of the changes I requested were made.
