Just a High Pressure Sales and Marketing Funnel
I never even really got to their service unfortunately. I saw an Instagram video for the Full-time Musician's Academy from Booklive. The founder lived in Denver, where I live, so I was interested. Signed up to watch the masterclass and it was just a trigger for this deluge of texts and emails. I started getting texted by a chat bot claiming to be Jared the founder. It wanted to talk about my music career to which I obliged for a while. It got repetitive and annoying, mentioning the same artist that they helped make $100k multiple times and constantly pivoting to booking a call. I hadn't even watched the masterclass yet and kept saying as much but one text later the bot is trying to book a call again. Eventually I ignored it. Meanwhile, I'm receiving 2-3 emails a day from them trying to get me to sign up. 25 emails in 8 days. They kept texting. Then I got a call from a human. Ok, I booked a meeting for the next day. A few times I asked them to chill out on the full court pressure. Even mentioned it to the human I spoke to on the phone and they agreed fully, thanked me for saying something. They also hated the pressure sales funnel. Ok, I'm willing to proceed. In the less than 24 hrs after signing up for a call I got 3 more emails and 3 more texts. They want me to confirm the meeting I booked a few hours ago. Watch a different mandatory 15 min video before the call that's taking place in 2 hours. Finally I just emailed them back that I wanted to postpone the call. All these high pressure sales and marketing tactics were turning me off. It didn't feel like a company I wanted to be involved with anymore and I apologized for backing out. At that point, I got a very snarky and long email from the person I was supposed to meet with. Some guy in Vegas, Jeff Celentano. The email was just to insult me in multiple ways, accuse me of not watching the video they sent (I did and had said so), tell me they were a way more successful musician than me, wish me luck cuz I'm gonna need it, blah blah. Their service might be good but at this point I'll never find out. They couldn't take yes for an answer.
