BlazePodReviews of blazepod.com

The pods are so much fun to play with. My training buddy and I like them so much he's going to get some as well so we can expand our possibilities. The only thing we'd like to change about the initial experience is for the functional adapter kit to come with the standard bundle. So many of the challenges and activities require pods to be elevated. It would have been great to know I was going to need a functional adapter kit when I ordered the pods, or for them to come included. I was a little hesitant about the subscription, but decided that just about everything now requires some type of subscription for full functionality so why should this be any different?

The blazepods were expensive, but seemed worth it. However after I received them I discovered that an expensive monthly subscription is required to use them. They are almost useless without the expensive subscription. I used them once and they have been sitting on my shelf ever since. DO NOT BUY!

Great technology for my Parkinson’s patients but the charging is very spotty and battery life isn’t great unless I charge every night

I still haven’t been sent an activation code yet

I bought this mainly for my kids to be more active. And they have been playing with it almost every day. It was a good purchase!

The BlazePods themselves are great and very versatile. They often don't recognize a touch but that may be because I have them set on a soft surface (gym mats). The biggest downside, and reason I almost returned them, is the fact that you need a $16/month membership just to review your personal data and to set up personalized workouts/programs. This is not well advertised before buying them and would have definitely made me think twice. The only data I get to review is each workouts reaction time graphically and independently of other workouts. I understand the need for ongoing revenue but as someone who just uses them casually (not as a trainer) it is absolutely not worth setting up a membership, especially since it's 1/2 the price of my gym membership. It would be great to see my progress over a few months and, to be honest, would encourage me to buy more pods and to recommend it to others based on personal improvements. Some basic data tracking for a single person (avg. reaction time for each program graphed against months etc.) and maybe 1-2 personal workouts allowed to be setup without a membership fee (or a $3-$5/month fee) would be much more reasonable based on the base price already paid for the pods themselves. Once again, I do think the product itself is great and I do 'think' that they would help for any athlete, there just needs to be a rethink of the app for more casual users (i.e., not avid athletes or personal trainers).

The pods are excellent at reaction time training. Truly is making a difference for me. And it is pretty entertaining and engaging The one thing I really dislike is that a pro membership is required to use most of the pre-built training exercises or custom exercises. So that gets expensive! I get the business case for recurring revenue but since I just paid $300+ for the 4 pods, I don’t want to have to add another $150-$200 each year

The hidden cost is very tricky, you will end up in a situation to subscribe to the App. The pods themsef have very limited function without the App!
