No effective response to repeated failed links
I used a free version of bitly for more than 15 years. Then last week, all my links stopped working. I learned that tech support requires a paid version, so I paid for an annual subscription. I made a trouble report. The links started working again but then stopped twice more. I am not getting any help today. For that reason, I'm looking at finding a new provider -- and cancelling my bitly membership.
Response from BitlyFeb 23, 2026
Hello David - We're truly sorry for the issues you experienced last week with your links. Unfortunately, one of Bitly's third-party providers experienced an outage and several ISP did not clear their DNS servers in a timely manner in order to refresh Bitly's service. While your links appear not work via your ISP, we can assure you that they did function properly to your audience on other ISPs. We communicated this outage and fix-in-progress via our Status page and customer service social media pages (available to free users BTW). Bitly experiences an industry-leading 99.9% uptime, but unfortunately, this was a result of individual ISPs failing to update their systems and not Bitly's product failure.
