I had three weeks of bistroMD, and I had problems with two of them. I've ordered from other food delivery services, and this is insanely expensive for what it is. I know how to eat healthy - I just simply didn't want to cook all the time, so I decided to give it a shot. First of all, their packaging is EXTREMELY wasteful. The cardboard box contained a styrofoam cooler, which contained bubblewrap & dry ice. The second week, there was food scattered throughout the cooler when I opened it - one entree's corner was cracked, which I attribute to the dry ice, as this is much too cold to be shipping plastic food containers with (-109 deg F). The third week, there was rice scattered throughout the cooler - another entree was open & had spilled everywhere, which was attributed to the "self-venting" technology, which is just not sealing it all the way. I decided to take pictures & email customer service. They agreed to refund my card for the two entrees I threw out (the same entree both times), and put a credit on my account for two entrees on my next shipment. They also assured me that the cracked entree wasn't their fault, but FedEx's, because they couldn't control how they handled the packaged once they shipped it. If it was FedEx's fault, all of the entrees would've been cracked & spilled - not just the corner of one that was cracked because it was exposed to temperatures too cold. I decided to go ahead and cancel my account, because if they blame faults on shipping, then why am I even paying for it? Other food delivery services don't charge you shipping, and they use sustainable/recyclable materials... And not dry ice. I can afford the price, but I'm also not apt to just throw my money away.
I would not recommend. Educate yourself & learn how to cook. All they're doing is macronutrient ratios, which you can calculate yourself. They also offer zero vegetarian options, which is frustrating.

Losing weight, but the customer service is TERRIBLE.
Both my wife and I are on the program and we are successfully losing weight. The food is good. If you get on this program then beware deliveries are not consistently delivered each week. There are glitches. Moreover, their system seems to be manual and inefficient. When we switched from 3 meals a day to two, we were asked to customize our order. We did this 3 times and yet did not get our customized order. Their technology is painfully slow and customizing a menu weekly is a chore. It was very frustrating and expensive to get food you don't want! Customer service passed us from one rep to another and nothing was accomplished. The two stars awarded are for the weight loss and food. Their customer service gets a zero!

Big Fedex problem
I have been using Bistromd now for a couple of months. The food is advertised as gourmet, but in actuality is only average. Despite the latter, there has been a major fedex problem where although I was a long-time customer, there was no order made through Fedex one week. The representative tried to explain it away by indicating there are no guarantees of delivery. This had nothing to do with a no guarantee delivery. This was a real omission where someone in bistro or Fedex never ordered my food. For Bistro's steep price, I have a minimum expectation that my food is ordered and delivered. There have been other Fedex issues and if you are turned over to a supervisor, don't expect satisfaction. Isn't it sad that the those that represent Bistro do not honor an honest problem to a solid customer? Order at your own risk. Dr. Phil, NBC, Lifetime, The Biggest Loser and the Doctors need to address this because you are going to lose many customers. I am not the first one who has experienced these issues.

First contact was rude but all the other representatives were very good. Great plan but doesn't taste good ...... allergic reactions to the sulfide and other ingredients
Great customer service. Great plan. A bit spendy, about $840 to $1000 per month but worth it if you can do it. My results were NOT satisfactory and it was an expensive experiment as there is no money back guarantee with MyBistro. The food is real frozen food, unlike other plans that are dehydrated and powdered. Please read the review though, as I found there were some real issues in how the food tastes, is preserved and presented.
The FIRST ORDER I placed the customer service representative was RUDE and acted a bit irritated, rushed me through the process and did not adequately answer my questions. All the OTHER representatives after my initial call though, were very GOOD.
The following account is why I rated 2 stars (or even 1 for the food if I could). I would give 4 stars for the continuing customer service.
Here's the issues I faced:
Something went wrong on my first order, it didn't arrive on time and food was no longer refrigerated at a safe temperature to eat. Customer service was VERY GOOD at crediting appropriately and helping with my next order, but I did have to wait for another order/shipping cycle to get started to see what the food was like. Because of the ordering and shipping cycle, it's difficult to sample the majority of the food until you are on your THIRD order. You are placing your SECOND order while just barely receiving the FIRST order to see if you like it. If you are trying other items from the menu on your second order, you really won't have a good idea of what you like until you are in the process of ordering your third order. That's why it can get expensive to just it it all figured out.
HOWEVER, on my following order when I actually got to TRY it, most of the lunch and dinner menu had a taste that was just too odd for my pallet and ..... had a lot of SULFIDES in it. I did not know about the Sulfides as I was a new customer. The main problem for that was attributed to my first customer service representative who was rude and impatient, rushing me through the process without adequately answering my questions, including the ones about additives and preservatives. He made no effort to help me get it right. For what you are paying, it should be right!!!! So as a result, I didnt have all the information I needed to properly order and to make a WELL INFORMED decision. He didn't listen to me, was impatient and just rushed me through the order.
Note: (Your HAVE TO COMMIT AND BUY THE SYSTEM FIRST to be able to SEE AND REVIEW it online, to see all of the menu items and learn where the listing of ingredients is and see what is offered.). But I was rushed by the Customer Service Rep. and didn't have opportunity get the proper help and support to check it all out. You cannot explore the menu before you've committed to buy.You cannot review it way ahead of time.
The following was a BIG PROBLEM:
I had a very terrible ALLERGIC REACTION!!! Now, Customer Service had CLAIMED the food to be "ALL NATURAL" and from "local resources" is what I was told when I was trying to get some info about the food BEFORE ordering. I was asking about preservatives and where the animal products came from, where the fish came from.
What I DID FIND OUT when I received my order is that All the FISH has SULFIDES added to it and some of the CHICKEN as well. I didn't order the dark meats so I haven't the info on that. ..... but I kept asking if the fish was wild caught when placing my order and when I tried to get clarification on the issues and where the fish came from, it was difficult to get them to say where the fish came from. They were very hesitant and not forthcoming at all. Customer service tries to stick to their script and is trained to tell the customer that all the fish is "RAISED in their NATURAL Environment" (this is not wild caught) (I heard this from three of the representatives, in the EXACT same words) ...... So for example I found out , the Salmon is FED an extra suppliment to ENHANCE their colour..... Therefore, the Salmon is FED by machines and people on a Fish Farm and RAISED/Harvested ....... ........ NOT WILD CAUGHT. The info is available about the colour enhancing food given to the Salmon is on the box label and in the menu ingredients once you commit to buying the Plan you can read it. Also the Salmon has a "spongy" texture as well. I didn't order any other fish or meats except for the turkey (no sulfides) and chicken (that has sulfides) which looked ok in texture but not great and the majority of it is pressed/processed. Bottom line is that I had NO KNOWLEDGE of the SULFIDES until I actually received my order tasted a couple of meals, had an allergic reaction, and then realized what the ingredients were and started to read everything on the lables. I never would have suspected it as I was informed that the food was "all natural"
There is also something else, some OTHER INGREDIENT in the food that I'm having reactions to and tastes funky. They also put an "as- if -grilled" taste/effect into most of the fish, bird and meat dishes. There is an overriding taste that makes all the dinner and many of the lunch dishes smell and taste almost the same. Breakfasts are pretty GOOD and the PASTAS with marinara sauces are pretty GOOD, though. Yes, I realize this is "diet food" but it is expensive and I expected a more natural taste, especially as they claim to be all natural. Not all infused with all this other stuff , not to mention Sulfides. ALL THE DESERTS are GOOD. Additionally, they have a NEW programme now that delivers for convenience, for seniors and people on "regular diets" ..... but it's all the same food and same taste and ingredients. It's for the most part just arranged differently and proportionately
CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS BEEN GREAT in trying to work with me to make this plan work, but I'm finding I can't eat most of the lunches, none of the dinners and few of the snacks. So it's not worth it. The snacks are ok, not great but tolerable if the rest wasn't so bad. So, considering the issues I'm having with the MyBistro food, I will not be continuing the programme.
But even though it's pricey @ about $820 - $1000 per month, it could work nicely for some people. If you do not have any sensitivity or don't mind the strange tasts and textures, it might be worth a try. Customer Service WILL DO every thing they can to help you!!
I gave a 2 Star because 95% of the food that I paid for I could not eat. The whole first order was spoiled when I received it and the next order is being donated. Customers Service would get a 4 Star. Because the first representative was preoccupied, uninterested and rushing me on my very first order and was impatient in answering my questions, but all the rest are wonderful!!!
I hope this review was helpful, best wishes on your journey.

Disappointed
The food never arrived . The charged me for two weeks before any food arrived. Today customer service is telling me week one will arrive today and week 2 tomorrow. They want me to believe this food was in transit 7 days. If th at is the case I cant eat it.. I asked for a refund and he keot blaming the issue on fed ex. Also they implied they have many salmon dishes but only have one in reality.

Tasty but customer service lacks service/too many delays in shipping with no compensation - disappointed after 11 weeks!
So I thought that this was the answer to a healthy diet plan after trying so many others. Though it was on the pricey side I thought it would be worth it if I dropped my last 15 or so lbs and enjoyed what I was eating. The first week came and I was so excited...no weight loss. The subsequent weeks' worth of food arrived, while sporadically untimely due to their shipping issues with weather, etc. and NO COMPENSATION whatsoever. When I complained to them and told them that being on a strict regiment of the 17 day diet and not having my food was a huge problem, they dismissed my rant and made no effort in keeping me a satisfied client. Had they even offered to give me a break on the next week's meals I would have let the untimely delivery slide. When you are on the 17 day diet via bistro MD it is important to have your food on a timely manner or else you are floundering around trying to figure out what to eat. Besides the hiccups in the delivery and the zero weight loss and the poor customer service my food was not at all like the 17 day diet was supposed to be. AND when I would call and talk to random people about the fact that there are carbs in their food for the first phase, they would say without any knowledge of the diet at all that everything was as it was supposed to be. Well I have done the diet before and lost weight with making my own meals and with 11 weeks of eating the bistro meals did not lose an ounce.
Oh, one more thing. I received a coupon from Bistro MD saying that if I referred a friend to the program that we would each get a $50 credit towards one of our weekly deliveries. When my Mom and my girlfriend tried to do this they said, "oh no...this cannot be used on the 17 day bistro md diet plan...only the regular plan." Again, no service here!!!!
In summary, the food was good, the service was not and the delivery service had a number of issues. If you are looking for something that is very expensive ($185 a week) and don't care when it arrives while not having anyone from the company held accountable for their actions, and won't lose any weight (on the 17 day diet plan) then try it! If you want a healthy diet plan that is reasonably priced where the company actually cares if you are satisfied try another route.

A good idea that needs improved execution
While I like the concept of Bistro MD, it is an expensive service, not very customizable, and the web front end is a very closed system that needs a lot of work. Some of the meals were great - I liked the savory dishes like beef burgundy. The fish dishes were inedible and they make a lot of spicy dishes. I cannot eat spicy dishes, and it is a cumbersome process to change the menu so you end up with a lot of food you don't like. Also, if your schedule changes and you aren't able to eat the meals, you quickly end up with at least two freezers full of food you can't possibly get to. I think if there were options with fewer days, you could put together a taste profile to make sure you never get things you don't want, and you could turn it on and off more easily these would be good improvements.

Thank you for your review, Barbara. BistroMD is continually taking action to improve member access to menu customization and entree selection. In the last year, we have introduced mybistromd.com, our member portal, which allows members to select the breakfast, lunch, and dinner entrees that they wish to receive for each day of their five or seven day program.
We also wanted to make sure that you are aware of the option of placing your bistroMD program on hold. Members wishing to place a hold on their program, for any reason, can call customer service at 866-401-3438 to make this request. Customer service will place the hold on your account, and even establish a resume date if you know how long you wish to place the hold. This allows members the flexibility to accommodate vacations, holidays, or any other time when they know they will not be able to receive or eat their weekly delivery of entrees.

Not impressed yet!
I made the mistake of not keeping track of the meals that I requested. Just received my food yesterday and will be starting on Monday. Can not rate on the taste of the meals yet but I have received meals that I did not order. For the money you spend you should receive what you order.
Also, when I signed up for the program I had several coupons to use and the one I selected does not allow me to use the other ones I have ever!!!!! I was hoping to use them to help with the cost.
I'm hoping that I receive the correct meals for my second week or I will have to make the decision of how I want to go forward......may stop this program and try another one.

Hello Shelley,
Thank you for choosing bistroMD to be your partner in wellness! We have taken a look the issue you mentioned about receiving meals that were different from what you were expecting to receive. As a result, we have added additional features to mybistromd.com that will alleviate the issue you expressed from occurring in the future.
We also wanted to share a note about using coupons to order bistroMD. Offers that customers may find online are, in most cases, valid for new customers on first week orders only. However, we've reserved one of our best offers for our members. When current members refer friends to the bistroMD program, the new members that is referred gets $50 off their first week, and the existing member gets a $50 credit to their account that is applied to their next week's order. There is no limit to the number of friends you can refer. Simply have each friend call customer service at 866-401-3438 once they have placed their order, and inform us that they were referred to bistroMD by you.
Thank you for being a valued bistroMD program member!
