I will start this by saying I like simple, healthy food. A sandwich. Fresh salmon with pepper. Lightly seasoned chicken and carrots. The quality isn't necessarily bad, but I end up having the same meals two to three times a week because everything is rather 'hoity-toity' and generally not to my taste. I feel like I need to stick my pinky out every time I open a box of this stuff - and that's not a compliment. I don't want everything smothered in mock 5-star sauces, 'olive tepenade', or drowning in fancy pomodoro salsa. (For us uncultured swine out here living on Earth, that's common tomato sauce - thanks, google.) And for $200/wk, I would have an expectation there's more 'normal' food on the menu. It's advertised as 150 dishes, though I have yet to see anywhere near that number of available to me. Even when asking an agent, I was told directly "that's all there is". But realistically, not many of those dishes are going to be enjoyable or even palatable to the common, everyday tongue. These are not the sort of social-standard meals that most families cook day-to-day, unless there's a chef or a massive food-enthusiast in the kitchen. The dishes cannot/will not be altered and your only recourse is to 'remove them' from your preferences. If you're looking for comfort foods or foods your familiar with - bluntly put, this is not the meal service for you. Every single salmon or chicken available on the menu is covered in some manner of 'mustard sauce' or 'bell pepper coulis' which ends up being scraped off into the garbage. Out of 150 supposed items, you will not once see a protein that isn't covered in a strange or just generally unappealing ingredient and think - "I would absolutely order this, but it's covered in ____ and that sounds kind of gross." BistroMD has potential to reach many more customers that are willing to explore a healthier diet. The 6 or so items off their 150 menu that I can eat are decent quality (with a few minor exceptions where I've pulled strips of gristle out of my beef), but they really need to tone it down with that pinky-wiggle culinary marketing. It's cool that you want to bring some culture to the table and I am in full support of that - but guys - you really need more options to support customers that can't stomach these flavor profiles. Sometimes all people want is a nice piece of properly grilled chicken with rice. Meals do not need to be over-complicated and written like they're being pulled from a back-alley Parisian cafe. Simple is effective. Simple is delicious. Please take this as helpful constructive criticism. All in all, I've lost 6lbs, which is great - but already looking at other meal services that are less expensive and offer a more appropriate menu for my tastes.

Hi Rachel, thanks for your feedback and congratulations on your early progress! At bistroMD, we're passionate about not only using food as medicine, but rejecting the idea that eating healthy must be bland and boring. We take pride in being able to offer our members authentic cuisine and a wide variety of options. Our menu (www.bistromd.com/our-menu) includes gourmet dishes as well as comfort foods such as Chicken, Rice & Cheddar Casserole, Sloppy Joe, Shepherd's Pie, and Lasagna with Garden Marinara. We're always crafting new meals to satisfy a range of taste preferences, and we're happy to let you know we are exploring more simplistic meals. Thank you for choosing bistroMD as your health & wellness partner. We hope you find more favorites on the menu!

I actually found the food to be really good. There were only a few items that I didn't like, and the option exists to exclude those items from showing up in your weekly menus. Where I ran into problems is with cost. Bistro MD is MEGA EXPENSIVE! It's worth it if you can afford to shell out $1000 to $1200 per month. I just can't. Any discounts you receive is for the first week ONLY. Other than that, my only complaint regards customer service. There simply isn't any. I had a couple simple questions, but there's no one to answer them. Even the chat feature on the website permanently shows as "unavailable". That still wasn't the deal breaker for me, but if having someone available for customer service is really important to you, you'll be disappointed. I do highly recommend BistroMD to those for which cost is not a factor and for which customer service is not all that important.

I have mixed feelings. I think they try hard and the quality of food is decent. And I think if you like all kinds of food that you will like it. I'm a picky eater and grossed out by meat. Everything on this diet is very meat- oriented. They have 10 vegetarian dishes out of hundreds. Customer service is good. Portions are good. Food is edible once you find the things you like.

Initial Entry 3/19/2020 I recently joined BistroMD and was very happy with the Meal Plan. For 2 weeks the Weekly Meals shipped on Tuesday and arrived on a Thursday. Last week my meals for this week shipped on Thursday and I received them on Saturday. Still OK. The Meals that should be delivered this week, for me to eat next week have not shipped yet. The information shows that the meals shipped but it is showing the previous weeks Tracking ID. Clearly not right. I tried yesterday and again today via E-Mail (no one available online) to contact someone to find out where the shipment is to no avail. Very Frustrating. To make it worse it looks like they overcharged for the non-existent shipment. If I don't hear back or receive the meals for next week then I will be cancelling the program. It is tough to plan the meals on an on-going basis if the service is not consistent. Hopefully someone will see this post and help me out. Update 3/21/2020 I did go back on the BistroMD Web Site this afternoon and engaged in a Chat with a Customer Service Representative, Jessica. I was surprised that someone was actually dealing with communications on the weekend but Happy that she was. Jessica took the information and said that she would check into the concern and get back to me today. Jessica, did in fact report back per her promise and apologized for a processing error that messed up the weeks order. She also processed a refund for the missing shipment. I am happy to know what happened and will need to make do for meals for the week but I will stick with the meal program. I am in the Diabetic Meal Program and can say that my Blood Sugar hasn't been this good in over 10 Years Thanks to the BistroMD Program. Hopefully things will go smoothly from now on. It is worth it from a health perspective. Thanks Again Jessica! Thank you.

I lost 5 pounds the first three weeks, but since then because I have two drinks a day, I haven’t lost more. The food wasn’t what I like to eat. Too many green beans and cauliflower, way too much protein even after I changed to vegetarian. I liked the salmon dinners. But after a few weeks I got very tired of the meals. Sigh. Also I felt guilty spending so much money when I wasn’t losing. So I stopped my subscription. Thank you, but not for me.

When after 2 perfect deliveries, BistroMD sent my food to the wrong address it really threw me off. Am bothered by the fact they don't know why it happened. So lets say at this pointy are not perfect but try hard and the food is great.
