I just signed up today. The website is terrible and I can't seem to get in touch with anyone on how to navigate it. Ive been hold for 45 minutes now and that was after i opted to receive a callback about 3 hours ago the first time I called. I have no idea when my order is being shipped. If this is how this is going to go then I'm not going to be a customer much longer

Expensive Slop
Really not worth the price. Every meal is a microwavable, and it all comes out looking like the same slop with a smattering of veggies on the side. The snacks are nonsense too. More effort for this price point, please.

Roasted Tofu
UPDATE 8/28/24
Vegetarian Chili
It's not bad. But the heavy presence of black pepper is needless. Not an entree worth chasing however.
UPDATE 8/13
Turns out there was more Tofu that we had room for. And once again, too much of one thing too little of the other. In this case, too little baby spinach complemented by a grain salad with farro, red quinoa and red lentils, finished with lemon herb dressing. We would not seek this one out again.
UPDATE 8/9
Just had a first outing with Chicken Mole. it looked stellar but something was missing. There was a whole lot of chicken pieces. Actually, too many. It left one wondering who does the portion control. Much too little brown rice. Flavor, mildly interesting. Back to the chicken. Many breast chunks were very chewy and below the caliber of Indian entrees and others. Most of the pieces ended on the grounds for needy wild things to consume. Too little rice, an absence of kidney beans, raisins, tomatoes-all among the listed ingredients. The slaw: Not crunchy and overspice. Reset needed.
We're pleased to report the Honey Mustard Chicken with Herb Roasted Potatoes is a winner. The baby spuds were so good, they outflanked the chicken which could have been a smaller cut allowing for more spuds.
ORIGINAL REVIEW
There are exceptions but Silver Cuisine-a BistroMD entry-has some interesting entrees. We received 10 entrees today. Shipping was exceptionally fast. It was with much curiosity and some expectation that 'Southwest Bison Meatloaf with smoky tomato sauce' would be a terrific supper. Turns out, while not inedible like some, the meal gets a secure spot in the U-category. U as in undistinguished. Not a regular meat eater, the meat was chewy in spots-not sure why-the tomato glaze was OK but the side of Mango Slaw, yes Mango Slaw also with carrot slivers and cabbage failed to arrest the pallet. After a few nibbles of the meat, we realized what was missing. Potato! We quickly boiled a medium organic Russet and merged it into what was left of the smoky sauce. Helpful. But the Bison entree needs a reset.

Over All Blah experience
The food arrived via fedex packed in dry ice so frozen well. excellent in my opinion but it all went down hill from there.
The snack plan was filled with what seemed to be variety but everything tasted exactly the same, gummy, weird after taste everything was blah.
the meals all had the same gummy texture with that funny after taste. sorry but i think i will try a different company for the price.

I tried BistroMD Keto flex plan
I tried BistroMD Keto flex plan. Hoping for an easy and way to improve my diet. I had no issues with customer service, but by my third or fourth meal I need this was not to be. Of the several meals I tried the best I could say was it was ok. But most were terrible. I threw out at least half of each meal if not the whole thing.
The veggies were bland ( extra Salt was required on all veggies) and the carrots had a hard rubber texture. The chicken itself was cooked well and tender and juicy, but the sauces were awful. I think you can get a better marinara sauce by opening a can of spaghtti-Os. The turkey breast was processed and mushy. And the eggplant meal was just the eggplant peals (smothered in bad tomato sauce).
I cancelled after my second box arrived, and I still have several meals in my freezer I'm not sure I'll even try.

Frozen Meals if you like that
Frozen meals if you like that. I signed up for the food service for convenience and trying to control portions. The meals were shipped on time and well-packaged. However, I found I did not enjoy eating frozen meals all the time. Fresh is so much better! I enjoy various cuisines, however I have to say I did not enjoy most of the meals I received. I tried different methods of heating, but the fact remains that frozen veggies reheated are rubbery. The sauces on the entree often turned watery (even if heating uncovered in the microwave or oven). Tried the air fryer, etc. nothing seemed to help make these meals palatable to me). I was able to cancel with no issues. It was just a waste for me, but if you don't mind paying a lot of money for a frozen meal, you will be happy.

I'm sorry you disliked the meals you received with bistroMD. Taking the meals out of the containers and putting them on plates or in bowls helps.

Too Expensive for What You Get
I think people’s issues with customer service are user error. They got in over their heads. I have had zero issues with customer service pausing my order provided that I asked them to do it on time. I’ve asked them to pause with two hours to spare and they still paused it. My issue is the quality of the frozen food and the cost and waste. I believe the food itself is high-quality, I believe a good portion of the meals would be pleasing if it was fresh not frozen. The problem is they don’t have the right scientists on the team so that they know how to freeze these entrées. There is always a puddle of water in the bottom no matter how I try to prepare it. Leave it out overnight, leave it in the fridge overnight, go straight from the freezer to the microwave, vent it, don’t vent it, it doesn’t matter there is always a significant amount of water in the bottom of almost every meal and that is just disgusting and unappetizing. The second issue with their freezing problems is put a rock hard piece of frozen food, one solid block of ice, and then put that next to some frozen snow peas. The snow peas are disgusting mush. They should take some notes from Bertolli frozen foods. They got their scientists on it and those frozen meals cooked evenly. Then look at a $254 a week price tag. It’s not tailored to you specifically, it’s a one-size-fits-all. If you are overweight, then the calories are gonna be far too low and you’re gonna be hungry. You will also have nowhere to go if you plateau. Then you can go ahead and add another $20 a week so you can have some healthy snacks (on top of theirs) so you’re not starving, and probably another $15 so you can have some vegetables that have nutritional value and aren’t cooked into mush. Then you’re looking at you know over $1100 a month for food and it’s not even tailored to you, and you have to tilt it and spill all the water out. I mean how the heck would someone else be able to feed the rest of their family, this is just for me. I will come out far ahead if I go to Whole Foods or central market and buy prepared fish and some vegetables. I really wanted it to work, but I’m finding myself purchasing a frozen grocery store meal as a break from this plan. Lastly, and this won’t bother everyone, but it’s just so much waste. They have these really cool biodegradable panels that you can put in your composting bin that I appreciate but I also know I’m paying for. That combined with this ginormous box, it was a regular battle trying to get that box in with the recycling. They’ve done everything on their side, I’m sure of that, but it’s just another thing that makes my life difficult and the whole point of this was to make it easy. A decade ago I could pick up fresh food from them locally. In a perfect world it would be like that now and I’m sure I’d be all in.

I'm sorry you are having issues with the quality of bistroMD's frozen food and the waste. If you are encountering issues with reheating, one of the best ways to prepare the entrees is in the oven. While the oven takes more time, it really does accentuate the textures and flavor profiles of the meals. While our price tag is higher than other meal delivery services, this is because the quality of our food is higher. Most other meal delivery services have entrees that are high carb and high sodium. Our meals are designed to help people who are overweight reverse weight-related health diagnoses. Many people who join the program with Type 2 Diabetes, see a reduction in their A1C levels after only a few months. Another benefit of bistroMD is the time it saves you from going to the grocery store, cooking, and cleaning. BistroMD is one of the most customizable meal delivery services available. It is certainly not a one-size-fits-all option. We have specific meal plans for a variety of dietary preferences or health concerns. We also are the most accommodating service for those with allergies. Plus every bistroMD member can customize their menu with our 150+ entree options. BistroMD offers something that frozen grocery store meals cannot, which is access to health. As far as the waste, bistroMD has gone above and beyond to ensure that all our shipping materials are recyclable or compostable. I appreciate the sentiment that we have done everything on our side. Our aim is to add ease into the lives of our members, but it does not seem as though that has been your experience. Hopefully you find what you are looking for.

I was a customer for 6 weeks and had…
I was a customer for 6 weeks and had immediate issues with the food I had selected not being in my order/substituted for other meals I had not selected. I attempted to skip delivery several time but the website didn't work. I was able to received no reply to my email despite the website stating there was weekend coverage. After sitting on hold for more than 40 minutes I finally got assistance that week. This week I held for an hour after I had been double charged - no answer. No response to me my email either. And my order was due 4 days ago and hasn't appeared. This is very bad service.

Hi Pamela. I am sorry you had a poor experience with bistroMD. The six week time period you mentioned aligns with our Shopify transition. In December 2022 we transitioned our website to Shopify and the transition did not go smoothly. The issues you stated in the review seem to be a consequence of the Shopify transition. BistroMD has been in operation for nearly 20 years and this is the first time we encountered a situation of this magnitude that caused our customers to receive such bad service. However, I'm happy to report that all issues have been resolved now and things are back to normal. I'd love to make this right with you if you are interested in giving bistroMD another chance. Please email [email protected] and mention that you wrote a Trust Pilot review and I will help make this right. Thanks again for considering bistroMD. I'm sorry you joined the program at such a difficult transition period for us.
