HORRIBLE scamming company! I was really upset when my apartment complex adopted this payment method for rent because they want you to either get their credit card or link your bank account. Otherwise, they charge you $9.95 to pay your rent with your debit card! On top of that, if you have multiple card payments ( roommates), it taps into the main account to pull the money even though another form of payment was selected. Had to go through my bank to cancel their attempts to hijack my bank account! And get this: they tried to take that exact amount from BOTH accounts as in double dip! These pay-your-rent apps are scams and just bleed money out of people. They shouldn't be allowed to operate.

Agree with the other reviews, this company is trash. I pay my rent through them at an Avalon Bay Communities property. After I was told (via bot text, obviously they have no customer service), I could cancel a payment I had made that day, it was never cancelled and cleared my bank, because my statement reflected a cancelled payment. Even when I called my communities customer service that assured me the payment would only PE processed once, they took it twice. Management company said take it up with your bank, Built won’t address it at all.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Absolutely terribly managed and horrible customer service. I’ve had serious issues with fraud with this account that have been very poorly handled. Then they kept putting blocks on my card requiring many phone calls to figure out what was going on. Never got an answer there and the only payments I had were my reoccurring ones so nothing that could’ve been flagged. The best part is I was never notified when the blocks were placed on my account. I didn’t find out either time until I got an email from management saying my rent payment declined twice. It came through on their end as if it was insufficient funds and cost me $50 in fees. Bilt refused to acknowledge the error or take any accountability or do anything to resolve the issue or reimburse.

Slow processing times for non-bilt card holders has become a huge issue and now I’m not longer able to pay using the portal and have to get physical cashiers checks like it’s 1980.. not to mention it now looks like I failed to pay on time because of the slow processing times. The old portal my building used do processing within 3 days. From what I found online Bilt could be anywhere from 5-8 days. So basically twice as long but supposedly newer and “better”? Yeah right. Thanks for adding to my misery for 6 months of a forced check process now, Bilt. Hope my misery brings you joy as I struggle :/

This company is absolute garbage. They are basically the Temu of apartment payment services. Tries to say that it is great for tenants and rewards are at no cost to the PM company! But in reality this unnecessary leech of a company siphons off resources from our tenants with their high fees. NOBODY considers this to be an amenity. When I was trying to pay rent for the first time, I honestly thought the apartment website had a virus and was forcing redirection into a scam website. I was not far off. Not sure how this company weaseled into this PM company's books, but I will be vehemently requesting we cut ties with them as I climb the ladder at my current company.

It's never been more difficult to give someone money in my life.

I decided to try Bilt Rewards for my rent payment, but it turned out to be a costly mistake. Despite paying off my Bilt Mastercard balance on October 2, my rent payment on October 7 failed due to "insufficient credit." When I contacted support, they couldn’t offer any real help, instead directing me to Wells Fargo, the issuer of the Bilt Mastercard. Wells Fargo confirmed that there was sufficient credit on my account, yet Bilt still failed to process the payment, leading to a late fee with my property management. What’s worse, Bilt support admitted they have no control over the Bilt Mastercard and couldn’t resolve the issue. I’ve now incurred unnecessary fees and wasted time trying to fix a problem caused by their system. If you’re considering Bilt for rent payments, think twice — it’s not worth the risk of late fees and poor customer support when things go wrong.

I asked for assistance in getting an email address corrected. The request I turned in three days has been "escalated" as many times, though they finally decided I can make an appointment to talk to them in two days. I have to pay extra now to get a money order from my bank. This wait time is unacceptable.
