I'm actually pretty disappointed as I purchased a bike on April 7th, 2021 and I received a purchase confirmation stating that I would receive a tracking number in 1-2 days and it is the 13th and still NOTHING. I had called them on the 7th and they said they were preparing the bike for shipment, so NO I'm not happy as I could have already had a bike delivered if I would have used another company. I think when it is in writing that you will have updated information in 1-2 days they should provide that. Not happy.

Beware, this company's website is inaccurate and their prices are not as listed. If you buy a bike, they may request an additional $100 over the posted value for shipping before they will send it to you. I purchased a used tandem bike through their website. After collecting payment for the bike they informed me that shippings was actually $140, and not $40 as marked on the site when I purchased the bike. They were very difficult to contact by phone when I attempted to correct this issue. I took me calling 2 different phone numbers 5 times over 2 days before I was able to finally reach someone. Ultimately, they informed me they were sorry for what then deemed a "miscommunication", and that they were unwilling to ship and sell me the bike for the value posted on the website. So, I had them cancel the order. As of this review, their website is still incorrect.

I bought a used bike from this company in the end of May. At the time, they were offering free shipping in the city. I had to contact them, and tried to set up a time, but they were VERY unresponsive to emails. I understand that we're in the middle of a pandemic, but they need to get more organized with facilitating bike sales. I ended up just having my husband pick up the bike from the store a week later. When he got there, they only had one size available even though they advertised 3 sizes on the website. Flash forward a month, the bike is falling apart. I've taken excellent care of it and yet the front derailleur and chain broke off. I contacted the company about it: no response. I brought it to get fixed and tuned up at a local trusted bike shop, and they charged me $200. I should have bought a brand new bike for this price that actually fits me. Moral of the story, do not buy a used bike from this company.

I ordered a bicycle from the Bike Rent NYC online shop. 10 days later I had to call them about the shipment. When I received the shipment then two days later it was a completely different and wrong product. Customer service was of little help and made promises that were never fulfilled. After another week I still haven’t received my product and the contacts will not answer their phones or emails and their mailboxes are full. Consumers beware.

I'm from Australia where the rear brake is operated by the left hand. Operating staff should have pointed out that at NYC the left hand operates the front pedal. Surely every bike hire should include a brief handover about operating procedures. Unfortunately, I used what I thought was the rear brake which was in fact the front one. Head over hills. 30K hospital bill. Thank you very much, Brian

The young woman at the counter was unwelcoming and unpleasant. Our bike ride was fun but on a day when the weather wasn’t good, it was cold and very windy. We took a wrong turn and had to ask a policeman directions. In the end we arrived 9 minutes late and were rudely told by the same young woman that ‘I told you not to be late’ and tried to charge us $45 US for being late as there were four bikes. I explained that we took a wrong turn but she didn’t care and insisted we pay it or I wouldn’t get my CDN drivers license back. I even explained that we pay .30 extra for every one of those extra dollars. I had to plead with the other staff and it was embarrassing but we are not rich and it was an exorbitant amount for the extra 9 mins. A very nice staff member instructed her to waive the fee. However the young woman was rude to the bitter end. Sad way to treat tourists for sure.

Hello Carla, Thank you for renting from us and we are happy to hear that you enjoyed your ride! I do apologize for the unfriendly treatment that you received from our front counter. This is certainly not how we want to treat any of our customers so, rest assured, we will undergo training here to ensure that this does not happen again. I am happy to hear that another staff member rose to the occasion and waived any fee for you! Again, thank you for your business and for the feedback which shows us an area that we need to work on! Kind regards, Your friends at Bike Rent NYC
