Benjamin Franklin Plumbing in Dayton, Ohio. Don't do it. This is a franchise which claims a Dayton address which is non-existent. Their HQ are in Medina, OHIO. When you call you talk to "Jenny", AI. Ask to talk to a person, you get forwarded to an answering service for another business. In March I had a plumbing emergency they resolved on a weekend. Thereafter, I had them repair irrigation valves in water meter pit and replace a backflow preventer device on irrigation system. They did not pull the required permit with Montgomery County Water and Environmental before doing the work, a legal requirement. Plumber installed a non-recommended backflow preventer incorrectly. This installer is supposed to be registered with Montgomery County as certified installer. When I tried to get in touch with the plumber who did the work they informed me he had disappeared and they did not know where he was and couldn't contact him (he had been manager of the outfit for 20 years). MCWES would not pass their work. I have written Franklin. I have talked to franchisor; they have not done anything. Talked to a person supposed to be the manager and they have just ignored me for 3 months. Paid them in full. They will not tell you cost of materials or labor. They have a 100% guarantee page and I have filed a complaint with no response. I would rate them based on my experience as deplorable. Overpriced and slippery.

Reviewing for the Columbia MD location. Wish I could give them minus stars. They are scammers. Israel completely ripped us off. He charged 945 dollars for gas line removal when he just "capped" the gas line which is supposed to cost about 200 dollars normally. We tried to contact them THREE times total. They said the manager would give us a call later but we never heard back from them. They are a total SCAM. Do NOT choose this plumbing company unless you are willing to be robbed.

They charged me $104 to tell me that it would cost $970 to do a simple kitchen drain snaking. This company is an actual scam.

The company lied about the price. They ended up charging me $3500 for a hot water heater

Hired BFP in Denver. Had leaky old valve at base of toilet and two old bad valves below sink. They charged $389 per valve. I asked tech if this was reasonable, he never said yes or no, instead his response mentioned something about "shareholders." Had to get water back on asap, so agreed despite feeling grifted. One week later the old valves in another bathroom also started leaking. Called Colorado based company, goodfellasheating.com. They charged $159 per valve. Expect to pay more than twice reasonable, market rates. Caveat emptor.

This review is not about their work. I did not hire them. Read my review and see why. Also, this review is about the company's Wichita, Kansas, location. First, let me tell you how they work. The plumber I should have hired gave me the entire price over the phone. Free. It was some $500 less than Benjamin Franklin Plumbing, and I regret not going ahead and hiring them. Franklin sent out two young boys. They were probably just salesmen. No one dared to give me a price over the phone. They insist on sending out a team of salespeople/plumbers. The young boy said, "We will do a safety inspection first." In plain language, that means we will look to see what we can sell you. We want your money. Moving ahead to the sump pump, which is what I want installed, the price they gave me was not only unbelievable, it was robbery had I accepted it. Keep in mind, you can buy a good residential sump at Home Depot and other places for around $270, and most any man who does manual labor can install it easily. It is not a big job. I suggest that you do not even have them step into your home. I had to pay $39.00 for allowing them into my home to see how much they could take me for. They wanted just under $1000 to install the sump pump! They wanted over $4000.00 for the water tank! I'll tell you in two words what I think of them. AVOID THEM!
