I was charged $6,000 "miscellaneous fee" for a job that was $1700. Talked to manager in Pelham, AL. He did nothing to explain or correct. I gave them a one only because there was no zero. I had used them for years with no problem before. I have read another review that they used DEI to do this with others.

Employee review
I was offered a job after passing both a background check and drug screening. I signed the contract, quit my previous job, and turned down several other offers to join the company. However, five hours into my first shift, the General Manager informed me that they could no longer move forward with my employment due to unspecified “further findings” in my background. Despite the work I completed during training that day, they refused to pay me.
I am currently pursuing legal action against the company. Their management is disorganized and unprofessional, and they clearly have no idea what they’re doing. Employee reviews are overwhelmingly negative, citing a high turnover rate and poor treatment. Everyone I encountered there seemed unhappy and miserable.
If you value your time and well-being, I strongly advise against working for this company.

Bad Company, Bad Owner
This review is for the Columbus, GA franchise:
This week I was physically threatened on my own property by an employee of Benjamin Franklin Plumbing owned by Breck Stoess. The employee repeatedly said he wanted me to come outside so he could “beat” me. There is a witness, another employee. Despite reaching the owner for help and resolution, I received no response or support other than being told it was an HR matter, end of discussion.
I have been advised that there is nothing legally I can do. But in civilized society, this kind of behavior is unacceptable. I believe that businesses must take responsibility for the actions of their employees while performing duties of their employment.
Benjamin Franklin Plumbing is an Authority Brands company. They have not been available to speak with me after several voicemails and attempts to reach Holly Brown in their customer service department.

Negative stars if possible!!!
Negative stars if possible!!!! Had my main drain back up into the yard...they said they had fixed the problem. 2 days later it backed up into the yard again. 2 days, not 2 months etc. Charged me $619 for the service. Called to get them to come out and told me it would be another $619?! What do they think I'm doing this on purpose, right before Christmas?? Absolutely ridiculous...I recommend you find someone who will do it right the 1st time or at the very least take pride in there work and honor there services.

Leaking T&P value in my water heater
I had a leaking T&P value in my water heater. I called Benjamin Frankin Plumbing for help, because their contact information was on the water heater. Mike Pack came and suggested that I replace the whole water heater as it is already 10 years old. He said the tank can fail anytime and can cause flooding in my house. He said he will be able to take care of it the same day and will be installed to the city code. He initially gave me a quote of around 4,000 dollars. I told him it is too much and then he spoke with someone and lowered the price to $2,500.81. He said he need 25% upfront to get the process started. I gave him $645 as deposit. After Mike left, I did a quick research and found out the amount mentioned to be was way too much as compared to others. I called Benjamin Franklin back and told them it was too much and I don't want to change the water heater with them and asked them to refund my deposit. Mike Pack told me that the deposit is nonrefundable. I was in shock. He never mentioned anything about it. He just had me singed on the ipad. He said you signed the document; I told him there was nothing mentioned or shown about nonrefundable. He said well you signed the document so either you forfeit the deposit or continue with the replacement. Since $645 is lots of money, I agreed to proceed. Installation was completed. My city inspector came to inspect and told me that the water heater supposed to have automatic shut off value installed in it as that is the city code. He failed the inspection and told me Benjamin Franklin is fully aware of this requirement. I called them back and they said that they will come to discuss this. Just now Mike Pack came and told me that he was not aware of this requirement and asking me to pay $691 to add the shutoff valve.
I checked for the valve and it costs only $161 dollars. I told him I am never going to fall for his trick and asked him to leave my house. If there was an option to give zero star, I would I have given. I will never every recommend Benjamin Franklin to anyone.

I'm very disappointed with Benjamin…
I'm very disappointed with Benjamin Franklin Plumbing the "punctual" plumber!!!! Usually they arrive in a very fashionable manner or let you know to expect a delay, if any! I scheduled my water heater descaling and checkup on a toilet they installed that wouldn't shut off when flushed, back on October 14th for today (Wed) November 2nd during the 9am to noon window.( Which gave them plenty of time to have all of their equipment ready for the appointment). After twelve I called to find out why they hadn't arrived. The service rep said the tech was waiting for a lady to get the pump to them & that they would send someone out then to check the toilet while we waited. @1:30 I called again to see where the techs were. Karen said he was on the way now. They never arrived until 2:38p.m. And when I asked what about their moto for always being "punctual" Karen just apologized & said because my water heater & toilet were under warranty and it was a no charge to me, they would not live up to their moto which clearly states "If there's any delay, it's you we pay!" No where does it state anything about them not being liable to their advertised promise to the customer!! It's like saying we'll make an appointment, break the appointment, not let you know what's going on& oh, so sorry but your times not valuable as the customer, we'll just show up when we feel like it & not live up to our promise to you!!!! That's false advertising! And just like it says on their website "if there's any delay it's you we pay because you've got better things to do then sit around and wait! Which is all I did today!
Not happy & given Karen's response I don't feel they want to live up to their customer guarantee/promise! I did leave a voicemail message with Chris... The manager, who I am still waiting to hear back from. The techs were also going to relay this message but could do nothing to substantiate their motto/ customer promise! It shouldn't matter if items are under warranty or not. Their motto is what they should be held to, to build customer trust/ loyalty. A customers time is valuable too & should not be spent sitting around waiting on "The Punctual Plumber" who was 2 and a half hours late!!
****UPDATE: As of 11/16/2022 I have left two voice mail calls with manager Chris and never got a response! Also they never once reached out here when tagged for this review to rectify the problem. Hence, tells you alot about how this company truly cares about their customers, doesn't it??****
