Ordered a rug in December and still waiting for delivery. Informed it’s being made from scratch and may take three months . It would be helpful to know ETA on this

We had previously bought a rug from Benisouk and were delighted with it. Then we made the mistake of buying what turned out to be a 'custom' rug. We waited quite a long time for it to arrive and when it did, it was a different color than what was on the web site. On the web site, it looked deep, earth red. When it arrived, it was more of an oxblood, brown/red. Not what we were expecting. We called but no answer, so we wrote and someone called back. We explained the problem and said, instead of a refund, we would gladly exchange it for something different. We would pay to have it shipped back. The woman said she would check with the boss and get back to us on the coming Friday, but never did. We wrote again to ask how we could work something out, but no response. So, there we are, with a rug we paid 500.00 for and now have to try to sell it at a loss on Craigslist. My advice: Only buy rugs that are in stock, don't mess with the 'custom' rugs, because, if it's not what you expected, you're stuck with it. A sad state of affairs. Of course, we won't be buying any more rugs from Benisouk.

I ordered a Boujad rug from Benisouk. After months of not receiving it I made contact with Benkisouk who told me the rug had been lost. They were good enough to refund my money, but it was hard for me to believe it had gotten lost, and they didn't make contact with me to let me know what had happened.

It's just taking a very long time, much longer than anyone from Benisouk had ever quoted. It's March 9, and this rug order was placed in mid-October. We get an e-mail every other month... oh, it's been completed, now it is just being washed. Oh, it's being prepared for shipping. From what we hear, the rug has been finished since early January. We live in an apartment where we are supposed to have rug covering on our floor, so the wait is actually bad for our downstairs neighbors. Edit: added one star since the refund was processed without incident, but see that in benisouk’s reply they say to expect 10-12 weeks for custom rugs. This order was placed over 20 weeks ago, and still no rug. Only through constant prodding did I learn that they were eventually unhappy with the quality of my rug. Anything but a proactive response in light of this wait is just so suspect. The damage control? 10% discount offered, nothing exceptional.

The rug arrived really quickly however it was not as I expected (a much shaggier style than it looked in the pictures). I asked if I could exchange and then had a huge number of emails back and forth and was quoted USD460 to return it. So prohibitive it made it impossible and was really painful to get that information. Such a shame. I assume it’s great if you love your rug but if it’s not what you expect them you are stuck with it anyway and they are not cheap.
