Extremely Disappointed
Extremely Disappointed – Beware of Dormant Account Fees! I am incredibly disappointed with my experience at this bank and want to warn others about its dormant account fees. Over the past year, I have experienced some financial challenges that prevented me from regularly adding money to my savings account or making withdrawals. Like most people, I believed the money I had worked hard to SAVE would remain safe in my account. Unfortunately, I recently opened my bank statement to discover a $25 dormant account fee simply because there had been no recent activity. Apparently, this fee is disclosed in the account agreement when opening an account in some teeny tiny print that doesn’t get read, but that does not make it any less frustrating or disappointing. A savings account should be a place where customers can confidently set money aside and SAVE, especially during financially difficult times, without worrying that their balance will be reduced simply because they haven’t made transactions. I find this practice particularly discouraging because it penalizes customers who may already be experiencing financial hardship. Perhaps this is something that should be told to the customer while they are opening an account. I imagine they don’t disclose that information because it may not be acceptable to the banking customer. My advice: Read the fine print carefully before opening a savings account here. If you intend to leave your savings untouched for an extended period, be aware that you could be charged for doing exactly that. I am extremely dissatisfied with this experience and would not recommend this bank. Customers deserve transparency, fairness, and confidence that their hard-earned savings are being protected.
