BEWARE! I ordered a pair of shoes that were supposedly Birkenstock knock offs. I looked up the website to make sure that it was a legit business & found out that it is. As I was checking out, I received an "offer" for a "free gift" so I clicked it. The next thing I know, I get an email stating that I had ordered the pair of shoes that I wanted & another hideous pair of shoes for $72! I was only supposed to pay $47 for the initial pair that I wanted to order. I immediately contacted the company via email stating that I wanted to cancel the order. I received fairly quick response asking me to send a picture of what I had received as far as an order. I responded that I had not received the order because I had placed the order moments prior. The customer rep told me that the order could not be canceled & that I would have to wait to receive it before anything could be done to resolve it. It took a few weeks for me to get it. When I did receive it, the shoes that I wanted weren't of good quality & the other "free" shoes were absolutely hideous. So again I contacted the company. This time the response took several days. I was given the option of mailing the shoes back to China at MY expense! The website states that the company is based in the Netherlands?? After a few more back & forth emails, I received a $27 refund & agreed to donate the shoes. So I lost over $50 for 2 pairs of shoes that I wouldn't do gardening in for fear that they would fall apart. Unbelievable how crooked this company is! DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY!

Ordered boots online that looked perfect for what I was looking for - I have smaller calves so it’s a struggle finding the right fit. Ordered a half size bigger than my regular foot size due to reviews suggesting to do so. It took over two weeks to deliver them. Once opened I noticed these boots are not at all what was pictured, cheap souls, not the same color. Also, were way too small in the foot , despite ordering a size bigger AND impossible to zip up my (small!) calf due to being way too tight. Altogether not going to work. After talking with customer service (Olivia might sound familiar to all of you) I had a similar experience with a 40% refund or to ship back to China (a $35-45 cost out of pocket). And given a return policy that states refunds can only be issued within 30 days of receipt. I wasn’t allowed the time to get them back to China. What a scam! Buying a $70 pair of boots to receive a poor excuse of what was depicted online and given the run-around when trying to return is absolutely unethical business. Disappointing and frustrating experience is not good for a first impression.

The shoes I ordered are really cute, and I think they will be comfortable. Reviews mentioned sizing up, so I ordered the same pair of shoes in two sizes (the size I normally wear and one size larger) thinking I could return the pair that doesn’t fit. AFTER I ordered, I realized that shoes are coming from China. I don’t have a problem w/that, other than it took 2 weeks for them to be delivered. The tracking link showed when they left China; nothing else until they arrived in the US and only then was the tracking link useful. I contacted the company for return info, and the first response was to offer to swap the pair for another size. As that was not the reason for the return, I explained again and was offered a 30% refund and keep the extra pair. I figure it will cost as much as I paid for that pair of shoes to send them back to China so I’m better off to accept a 30% refund. Bareroots website is designed to be misleading, and that’s my biggest complaint. Their shoes are cute and inexpensive, but they will not arrive quickly and if you need to make a return, they will do anything not to have to refund your money.

Terrible experience Ordered (2) shoes and upon arrival, they smelled like horrible artificial glue and quality was very cheap and material loose all around heel and foot. After multiple responses and asking to be escalated to someone who cared about a review on Trustpilot I finally received a full refund after they attempted to only offer 25% and then 35%. Grateful someone understood the importance of customer service and satisfaction.

The product is terrible. Flimsy, smelly, and too small even though I measured and ordered the next size up because I was on the edge of the other size. Returns are customer paid and must be sent to China though the company is "US Based" and the original shipment came from Illinois. Shipping cost nearly as much as the shoes, but I was forced to settle for a 25% refund and keep the shoes. There is no mention in the return policy that this is a Chonese company. The only address is in the Netherlands, and it lists itself as a company registered in the US. Buyer beware...shame on me for not doing more homework. That said, the customer service has been great. I am not getting the resolution I want (all my money back and the junk out of my house), but they have been quick to respond to my emails.
