Badlands is the best dog food we have ever tried.
Our miniature schnauzer, Casper, is 1 year, 4 months old and we want only the best for him. When he was a puppy we gave him what was given to us by the breeder. He ate well enough but would never been enthusiastic about his food and often left some behind in his bowl. Once that food was used up we decided to try a new dog food, one that he liked to eat and also was nutrious for him. We spent hours online and in pet stores looking for a nutrious dog food that our dog would eat and we'd feel good about feeding it to him. Nothing we bought seemed to make him excited about eating his food. I then read up on giving him additionnal healthy options such as sweet potatoes, carrots, etc. We even bought him "organ meats" at our local butcher shop but even though he ate these additional options he wasn't crazy about them and I was still worried about him eating healthy choices. One day I stumbled on Badlands Ranch and read up on their variety of food, what products go into their food and also more importantly, what doesn't go into their food. I also liked the idea of the food being freeze dried as we like to travel and camp and our dog goes with us so that made it additionally appealing to us. So, we gave it a go and bought 4 bags of the beef flavor to try and low and behold our dog loved it. It was the first time ever that he gobbled it all up in one sitting without any encouragement. I thought perhaps it was just because it was something new and it would wear off eventually but I am pleased to say he still loves it and recently we also purchased the chicken flavor, which he loves just as much. The only negative I see is that the price is a bit on the high side and I am thankful our dog doesn't eat a lot as he is under 18 pounds. However, I also realize that in order to have quality dog food that is prepared with quality ingredients and freeze dried it is more costly to produce healthy dog food, unlike the big name dog food manufacturers. It is important to us for our dog to not only be happy with his food and to enjoy it but be healthier because of it. It is really a win-win for both our dog and us.
