False Counterfeit results
A customer tried to purchase an item from me, but the marketplace we used blocked the purchase because it was flagged as counterfeit. I provided an independent certificate of authenticity, but they did not want to use mine, and instead contracted out to Authenticate First. They asked for multiple photos and I sent high quality high resolution photos of all the areas they requested. After waiting a really long time, they said it was a fake, and looking over the report, they just used the low resolution photos from the item listing, and could not provide rationale as to why the item was determined to be counterfeit. They were very rude and condescending, I would not recommend at all

We would like to clarify several points for accuracy. Our experts review **all photos provided** with a submission — not just marketplace listing images. If lower-resolution images appear in a report, that is typically because those were part of the materials available in the order record. We do not selectively ignore higher-quality photos when they are provided. Image quality itself can vary due to multiple factors, including compression from marketplace platforms, lighting, focus, and upload settings. Even photos that appear clear to a submitter may not provide sufficient detail when enlarged for close examination of markings and construction features. Regarding rationale, our Terms of Service — which are agreed to prior to placing an order — explain that we do not disclose detailed reasoning or proprietary methodology. Our authentication processes constitute protected intellectual property developed over many years and are not publicly shared. This is standard practice within the industry. Authenticate First
