Sales person sold me a new package which he said would be working within 24-48 hours. Called 3 days later and was told it would actually be over a week until service was provided. I was also told my service would be expedited the same day. Called the next day and no record of my call or expedition. Lies and deception.

Very unsatisfactory experience in setting up new services
I recently tried to set up telephone and DSL services for a future date at an address in Reno which we have leased beginning in late June. I started with the AT&T web site but it would not complete my order. I tried using the on-line chat for about an hour but the rep couldn't suggest any way to make the web order work. I tried different browsers but nothing worked. Finally, my current provider, CenturyLink, suggested a service broker called Movaroo and they were finally able to process my order with AT&T. The following day I received an email from AT&T Services that said they were unable to process my order and to "contact us at: 888-573-4107." The rep that I got was totally incompetent and said that my order could not be processed. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was blown off. Eventually I was transferred to "customer service" with the exact same result, total incompetence and disinterest in helping me understand what the problem was with the order. The next day another attempt at telephone support was made by my wife and eventually she determined that the problem was that the existing AT&T service at our new address had not been disconnected. We contacted the landlord and then the existing tenant and requested that they place a disconnect order for the date they were scheduled to move out of the house. They did this and then we tried to confirm our order for after the disconnect. AT&T support reps could still not handle our order nor could they give us any details about the order nor could they confirm that it even still existed. We were told to call back after the Memorial Day holiday. And, that is where we now stand .... in limbo. Thanks, AT&T for the most miserable experience we have ever had in trying to order phone services.

Poor service/communication by sales rep.
After contacting ATT sales for new customers, I discussed Uverse packages/services for our new home. Shortly into our conversation the rep asked for my cell # in the event the call was dropped, which it was (more on that later) i decided on the package that fit my needs/budget and agreed on price after confirmation that HD service was included and that a few of my favorite channels were included as well. I was assured an email would be dispatched to confirm my order and agrred pricing. About that time my call (ATT service provider) was dropped on their end....i waited...and waited...and waited. No call back to confirm order, no email confirmation either. Upon installation date my technician (good guy) starts my install and says he notices the work order dosent include HD, and is that correct? The channels that were represented by their agent as being in package are not. He outright lied and misrepresented the service. Talk about frustration and a huge waste of time. Long story short, ATT Uverse was a joke, save yourself the frustration and go with another provider.

AT&T request a review of my new service
Why do you ask me to give a review of my new service when it has not started yet? How about giving it a month or two!

Worse Than Comcast
I was expecting a better customer service experience than I had at Comcast but instead all I received was lies and manipulation. When I signed up for Uverse the salesmen took my credit card and signed me up for a service that AT&T does not offer called Frontier Secure. No one at ATT know why he did that but it was theft and fraud yet no one is looking to do anything about it. I was lied to several times in regards to an install date. My first two install dates have come and gone and I still do not have this service.
No notes are ever added into the system and I have to explain my situation over each time when I call which is often because again, I still do not have service.
The way this has gone I do not believe I am going to move forward with this service because if this is how they treat new customers I can only imagine what happens when you're signed up in a long term contract.
I would not recommend this service to anyone.

Major Headache
We are opening a new business and decided to go with AT&T to install our land line. With an installation appointment pending, I called AT&T to see if we could get our phone number changed to something other than the one we were assigned. During DAY ONE of this ordeal, I was forwarded from one person to another because no one could locate the account or order # that was provided to me by AT&T in an email. My time was wasted by several people who failed to tell me they were only able to handle residential accounts instead of business accounts and had to transfer me elsewhere - ultimately forwarding me to another residential CSR. When I finally was connected to someone who was able to help, I was left on hold for long stretches of time while phone number availability was checked and I was ultimately disconnected before anything was finalized. The CSR I was talking to (Ryan) gave me his email address so that I could reach him there, but he stopped responding to my emails and left me hanging with no resolution. I gave up on this for the day to attempt to try again tomorrow.
DAY TWO was an exact repeat of the day before. Apparently, you have to be initiated into a secret society to be connected to anyone in business accounts? After a couple of hours, I was finally connected with someone who let me know that despite all of the trouble I endured for the past two days that I would not be able to change my number to ANY of the variations I had in mind, so I was forced to keep the one that we were assigned. That's fine - but why wasn't that told to me the previous day to save me hours of time wasted on the phone?
Later that same day (Tuesday), we received a call from an installer that he was heading to our shop to install the line even though we had scheduled the appointment for Friday (we hadn't even received the keys to take possession of our property at that time), so I had the pleasure of sitting on hold for a CSR for another 15 minutes which ultimately dropped me the residential queue AGAIN where I had to be transferred to business accounts to reschedule the appointment that AT&T screwed up.
At the end of the day, I asked my partner if it was necessary for us to use AT&T at all because my experience so far had been horrific. If we weren't opening a business right now and weren't distracted with countless other issues, we'd very likely be setting up phone service with another provider. If we continue to have issues like this after the line has been installed, that's exactly what we'll do. Not sure why a simple request took over 2 days to answer, why no one could connect me to who I needed to speak with, why I was disconnected and why my request for a new number could not be processed, but this matter took me away from more urgent matters I needed to address and left a bad taste in my mouth. This is precisely why my cell service is and will remain through Verizon.
