Highly Professional Publishers
A Ghost Writer's Honest Take on Atmosphere Press Let me start with the most important thing: the team at Atmosphere Press are genuinely good people. Friendly, professional, and skilled — and in the publishing world, that combination is rarer than you'd think. I came to Atmosphere as a ghost writer. The project was a memoir called The Bright Side of Life, recounting the remarkable life of a man named Dimitri. Because of how personal and unique the book was, I knew a traditional publisher wasn't the right fit — I needed more control over the final product, more say in how Dimitri's story would be told. That's what led me to hybrid publishing, and ultimately, to Atmosphere Press. I opted for the Essential tier — the lowest of the three payment packages. I'm based in Australia, so the exchange rate with the American dollar was a real consideration. But even at that entry level, I got everything I needed. No corners felt cut. Byrce, the development editor, was a highlight. He's down-to-earth, honest, and doesn't waste your time with empty praise — which, frankly, is exactly what you want when you're trying to make a manuscript as strong as it can be. His suggestion to rework three sections was spot-on, and the book is better for it. I left every session with him feeling genuinely confident in the writing. The creative side of things was equally impressive. Ronaldo, Felipe, and their respective teams produced a front cover and book trailer that I'd put up against anything I've seen from traditional publishers — and I've published with traditional publishers. Their turnaround time and communication throughout were remarkable. Then there's the proofreading team — Chris and BE. I'll be honest: I envy their skill. Their attention to detail is the kind that makes you quietly embarrassed about the things you missed. If I had to single out one area where Atmosphere Press truly excels above everything else, it would be this team. The interior design and layout crew deserve a mention too. They handled the manuscript beautifully, and I loved what they did with the final look of the book. Highly skilled, full stop. Elana, the distribution manager, kept everything moving efficiently right through to the end. The proof copy arrived at my Sydney address quickly and without any fuss — exactly what you want at that stage of the process. A few practical notes for anyone considering Atmosphere Press: they do offer a solid suite of marketing and publicity options, including social media support. I haven't used these myself — the price range sits outside my current budget — but they're there if you have the funds, and I have no doubt they'd be worth it. For this project, Dimitri and I have taken on most of the marketing ourselves, and that's been fine. Kyle, Alex, and Tabinda also kept the whole timeline running smoothly behind the scenes, handling regular communication and making sure nothing slipped through the cracks. Overall? It was a wonderful experience. The Bright Side of Life came out exactly as I'd hoped — a polished, professional memoir that does justice to Dimitri's incredible story. If you're weighing up hybrid publishing and have the budget for one of their packages, I'd recommend submitting your manuscript to Atmosphere Press without hesitation. You'll be in good hands.
