In February, 2026, I inadvertently asked a question to askanexpert. Without realizing it, this created a charge. When I saw the charge on my credit card I called to cancel on March 5. The person I spoke with said the account was canceled, and I would receive a refund for the second month's (i.e. March) charge. (I realize it was my mistake and expected to pay the first month, February, charge.) However, the account was not canceled, I did not receive the promised refund, and I was charged a third monthly charge. Subsequently, I called askanexpert two more times. During the third call, April 9, my account was finally canceled, but she said no refund could be authorized. I believe I should not have to pay for monthly charges after my call (March 5) to cancel the account. Askanexpert owes me $110.

First time I got no response. I was told I would be charged a one time refundable $1 charge. Instead, I was charged $56 with &55 recurring charge. There is no phone number to dispute this! It popped up from another site so I was unaware this was a different company! What a rip off! Beware of this disreputable company!

It's a scam.

I was trying to reach a professsional organization and I entered a google search. The Ask an expert responded to my query. I did not realize that I had reach Just ask an expert instead of the professional organization I wanted to reach. They answered my question and the answer looked like it was AI generated and was absolutely useless. After I read the answer I realized I had not reach the right web site so I immediately closed off from Just Ask an Expert. I noticed that I had a charge on my credit card. Since it was converted to a foreign currency I am not sure of the exact amount, but I would guess that it was $50USD. The answer was not worth anything. What I found most objectionable is that they jump in an answer the question without being clear who they are and that there is a charge. They responded to me and refunded the amount charged.

They are not clear that you are signing up for a monthly subscription. They show an initial price of around $20, which is paid at time of service, but by getting help they automatically sign you up as a monthly subscriber at $55+ a month and each different topic is its own monthly fee.

Paul was spot on. I didn’t tell him I’d already Googled the symptoms of my Samsung tv. One of the things I tried doing was to hold down the TV button on the remote for at least a minute after I’d cut off the tv. There were a couple other things I tried to no avail. I ALSO SENT THEM AN EMAIL ASKING WHY I WASN'T BEING REFUNDED FOR AT LEAST (1)MORE PAYMENT OF $60.OO UNLESS A PERSON IS CHARGED $60.00 EVERY TIME THEY ARE TRANSFERRED TO ANOTHER TECHNICIAN. THERE WAS NO MENTION OF A $60.00 PAYMENT FOR ANYTHING IN THEIR ADVERTISEMENT...A $5.00 FEE FOR SOMETHING UNLESS THE FEE WAS PRINTED IN ULTRA-FINE PRINT. AS ALWAYS, BE CAUTIOUS WHEN ASKING FOR HELP ON THE INTERNET. ALSO, I WAS TOLD, WITH THE $60.00 REIMBURSEMENT, MY ACCOUNT WOULD BE CLOSED. I HAD NO IDEA THAT I'D HAD AN ACCOUNT OPENED! THAT, TOO, WAS NOT DISCLOSED AS FAR AS I CAN REMEMBER.

Used the service, then dinged my credit card because apparently I'd signed up for the 24-month premium plan. Now they want a cancellation fee to cease taking money from my credit card. A total scam.
