I live with chronic pain and have successfully treating it with buprenorphine naloxone (sublingual) for the past 2 years. Due to some oral (dental incidents) my Doctor & I decided to try morphine sulfate for 1 wk, then Kaden slow release. I was concerned about starting morphine & becoming dependent, side effects. I only took the morphine 2 nights out of 7. My pain returned 9 out of 10 and I knew I had to be in withdrawal 18 hours to go back on buprenorphine. It was the middle of the night, no sleep for several days, my pain follows the circadian cycle and is intense at night. I was feeling like I just couldn't go on any longer ( if it wasn't for my 13 yr old dog). I phoned Askadoctor and was asked allot of questions then Doctor Kala phoned me and made a plan to start me back on buprenorphine safely without going into worst withdrawal. Then Doctor Kala gave me the doses & times for the following day, until I see my family Doctor on Monday. I followed her medication instructions and within 45 minutes my pain subsided & I slept several hours.
