I was finally heard
For once , I actually feel a medical professional listened to me and heard my pain ! One of the Dermatologists I had gone to see, here in Tampa , refused to even look at the pictures I had on my phone of the actual mites I had gotten from underneath my skin. Plus, the ones that I see on the floor or that get on me from the outside. He told me that it was all in my head and that what I needed was a Psychiatrist and meds ! I was suffering from "Delusional Parasitosis" There was no bug and there isn't anything biting you ,he claimed. This dermatologist even went on to tell me that I had Cancer of the blood.( based on high Antibodies in my blood work results). I left his office so distraught and depressed, even contemplated taking my own life. I knew I simply could not continue living in this constant state of itching and attack to my body . I felt I was living in a prison inside of my own home, surrounded by the tiniest monster, (the oak mite). I have gone no where. I have shut myself off t from my from my friends because of the red scars I have all over my body. I always have to wear long sleeve shirts and long pants to cover up all the bite marks. It is very embarrassing . FYI, about a month later,I learned I did NOT have Cancer! The dermatologist was incorrect in his diagnosis. I must be honest, I feel like many times I am losing my mind with this constant itching! It's non-stop! I have used every over the counter item available. Nothing works! I also have a primary care Dr. that does not recognize the intensity of this matter and the mental anguish I suffer every day . In fact,She is the entire reason I have to go as a SELF PAY patient to the MAYO CLINIC . The Infectious Disease Dr. that I saw, had written out a script saying that I needed : A Referral " for a more specialized evaluation of parasitic infection at a more specialized center. ( Mayo or Cleveland Clinics). My PCP, declined authorization for this referral. This was over 2 months ago ! I even called my Insurance company. I was told however; that without the PCP's Authorization, I would not have coverage. This will be a tremendous financial hardship for me to go as a SELF PAY patient, as I only receive Social Security Medical Disability, but it is worth it to SAVE MY LIFE! Currently, I am not 'living' life at all!
