Staff was always responsive and helpful

Hard to work with. Did not follow through on royalty payments - paid 14 cents on a $12.99 book (!). Had to complain to head of marketing. A year later, they gave my EXACT book title away to another author!! This second book had the same general storyline as mine. UNBELIEVABLE.

Archway staff were helpful, insightful and encouraging during a process of gathering the many elements to publish a book. My one concern would have been my primary contact during the process left for another job and I was not informed of her leaving until several weeks after she had left. I also was surprised about the quality of some of staff spelling, like the introduction to this review request, there is a misspelling on it. There were also some bad sites that were attached to people's emails.

I was disappointed in the support provided. This was my first book to be published, and I was told I would be led by the hand every step of the way with lots of input and advice. I was mostly sent emails that asked me to approve this or that. I even had to request that my book trailer be added to my website, and had to think of this myself. For marketing, I was just sent a box of stuff. No direction, no watch this video, etc. Yes, disappointed for what I paid.

The publishing portion went very well publishing my children’s book, but the printing company has put out poor quality books with defects ranging from large bubbles on the page behind the front cover, bubbles on the page behind the back cover, pages not cut apart, and improperly glued spine making the spine look like it has been broken. At least 60% of my shipment was defective. I’m having a book signing event in one day and probably won’t have enough books available for sale. Also, the printing company uses thin paper that is not very practical for a child’s handling. I would recommend Archway change their printing company if they want to have a good reputation to get new author’s business. The author should not have to be the quality control inspector, but be able to open a box with confidence that the books are a good quality.

I was told a consultant would be with me throughout the process, but that is not the case. Each step someone else is your contact. There was a lack of personal engagement. If you have a question, right away you are told there is an 'extra' cost. The discount format does not allow for consignment unless you buy a whole lot of books. I am not talking 50 but much more. The design work was great, but I wish they were more up front, had author friendly discounts, and were more personable.
