Left Not Feeling Healed
I urge you to take your healing into your own hands at The Center and ask for what you need. If your roommates are not a good match, tell your main therapist. If a fellow client in one of your groups or groups is causing problems for you, tell your main therapist. If you are not receiving the treatment you expected to receive, tell your main therapist. If they keep messing up your lunches, tell your main therapist. Your treatment team may not do anything, which is a big problem right there, but you MUST stand up for yourself or your time there will be wasted. You must be your own advocate to get what you need at this facility. Also, if you do not like dark skies and rain for days on end, it's probably best that you do not go to The Center. Keep in mind that the closest place to buy groceries is at the hardware store, which is within walking distance. Otherwise, you have to catch a bus. The town is a bit expensive with regard to food and clothing. There is not a lot to do at night unless you go to the coffee shop owned by wife of the owner of The Center, the Starbucks, the library or the gym. God is heavily focused on, so if that is a problem for you, you may want to choose another facility. Overall, I left with some new skills, but in no way do I feel like I got what I paid for.
Response from The Center • A Place of HOPENov 21, 2017
Dear Bethanne, Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We were please to have you at The Center 18 months ago, and hope you are doing very well. For those who might read your review, we would like to provide additional information on how we work to accommodate our clients who request living arrangements, and also provide some information about activities and shopping in the small town of Edmonds. We encourage all clients to update us on their living quarters and their relationship with roommates, if they have them. We want to ensure each client is comfortable and benefitting from their environment. If an individual would like a change in venue, we are very happy to make accommodations as long as room availability permits. With options from individual rooms to having roommates in several different condominium-style housing, we have a good mix of options available. Edmonds is a quiet, quaint village conducive for treatment and healing. It has a nice variety of 16 well regarded restaurants within walking distance. One evening a week, The Center treats clients to a clients-only social event at the local coffee shop, just steps away from the facility. Our nutrition department creates breakfast and lunches each day and works to accommodate specific diet requirements if requested by a client. There is a stand alone grocery store three blocks away from The Center with other shops co-located with the grocery store. Our dietary team also provides transportation to other grocery stores, if desired. It is true that the town of Edmonds is not known for its nightlife, but we believe the quietness and solitude of the environment is more ideal for treatment than a more urban, loud and bustling city core. Again, thank you for the review, and we HOPE your journey can be empowered by your stay with us. Blessings, Renee, Alumni Director
