An emergency situation need to see a psychiatrist as soon as possible went through the initial sign-up procedure. The girls said after she checks the insurance and call me back not another word. Never answered their phone after that Terrible Pl., not recommend calling them.

So The Center got my review deleted. Again. I refuse to share my name because I want it to be anonymous, and they DO NOT vet any positive glowing reviews, only the reviews they don’t like. Because they think the center can do no wrong. Well let’s try this again. I had a horrific experience here because I came here as an atheist. I specifically told them I have religious trauma and they specifically told me they do the same therapy as secular therapy places like recovery from religion and the secular therapy project. They promised their worldview wasn’t about god. Why did an atheist come here you ask? Because they offered me free treatment, and I was so sick with bulimia that I took it. They think I’m a fake troll, so let’s name drop shall we? (They made me delete the names) were my CDIOP therapists, and (name deleted) liked to tell us that “when you make plans, god laughs” and that we all had a plan for our lives mapped out by her lord. (Names of therapists deleted) liked to tell me that “you can’t do this eating disorder recovery without Jesus”. They didn’t like my career and told me that if I stayed in my career I would always have ED. So I quite my career and moved all the way across the country. After taking their advice, my life spiraled out of control for the next 6 years. I was NEVER able to get back the career that I loved. And STILL had ED, even though I followed their advice and quit. I lived in the house right across from the center, they have 3 donated houses. They kicked out many of the other clients for not “complying” to the demands and rules. I thought it was sad. Anyway, I can keep going on and on and on about how awful it is that in America, rehabs are allowed to bring magic Bronze Age sky daddy dogma into science. And how dangerous it is to take advice from mental health professionals who think our lives are controlled by imaginary lords. This really ruined me. What a shame.

Complete Failure
My husband is currently in another treatment facility because this place completely failed him. He confessed he drank the entire time he was there. He had too much freedom to come and go as he pleased in the evenings and on weekends. He obviously was not tested regularly for alcohol consumption. Very disappointed.

So on September 25th I got an email…
So on September 25th I got an email saying that my review was flagged and had to be edited because the center didn’t like what I said. I wrote that I went here years ago and stayed over 3 months. I had a therapist I worked with who also worked with my best friend at the time to help out problems out... well you see, when I said that she told me at the end of my treatment that I would never recover truly from my eating disorder until I accepted Jesus into my heart, I told her I really didn’t think it made sense that 7.5 billion people could have their own real gods and for them to all exist at the same time and all their rules to be valid but she told me that this was the way. And in all the books dr. Jantz writes that they sell at the center, especially the one called happy for the rest of your life, it says in the end that god is the answer. So I wrote her name down in my review, and they responded with a claim that she never worked there or anyone by that name doesn’t work there. However, that’s a lie because she’s cutrently on google i took a screen shot it’s currently there you can find her! They didn’t have a doctor there, but had a Naturopath who for 3 months insisted that my swollen stomach was due to a weak lower belly muscle and I should do abs, and gave me probiotics, later I found out after seeing a real hospital that I had problems with my intestines. It was hell. Be really careful when you come here, I know the mental health business is booming right now, and if you have a problem with anything it’s because you must be “sick in the head” everybody and their mama is going to therapists nowadays but please do your research and only come here if you are devout Jesus worshipper

Dear Sabrina,
Thank you for your review reflecting on your experience several years ago at The Center. We very much appreciate your feedback. Please know our concern with the original submission was the listing of a treatment professional by name, which we work to avoid for privacy concerns. Certainly, your comments of your experience are always welcome. We care greatly about everyone's experience.
Our desire is to be of help in any fashion we can, including providing any resources. Please know we welcome talking with you at any time.

35 days and waiting for 12,000 to be returned and no communication from them!
Well, its been 5 days over waiting 30 full days to receive a refund that we were told we would get. They took $12,000 of my Mother's money on 4/12 and I decided to not attend on 4/13. I never signed any contract stating I would attend. I have to assume by now (because we have e-mailed twice, called 4 to 5 times, left 3 voice messages with no response) they may not give us our money back. I hope that is not the case, but they have not reassured us.
How ridiculous is it that a place called "A Place Called Hope" will leave you hanging with no communication regarding $12,000 they took for services you have NOT received. And they do this to someone with known PTSD, anxiety and depression. Someone they knew was going to have a difficult time financially affording the services anyhow. And someone who is waiting for SSDI and could use the money for basic survival or other treatment services. My Mom and I have both tried and they do not even have the common decency to return a call or write and e-mail to reassure us the money will be returned. We were told 30 days or earlier. It is day 35 and they are not returning my Mom's phone calls.
We'll see what tomorrow brings. Will be getting legal advice soon if the money doesn't show. It's not like I don't have all the communication to them through e-mail and screen shots of our attempts when we called and heard nothing back. Very traumatic experience for someone already suffering from PTSD.
This experience has destroyed my confidence in these types of treatment centers and will likely discourage ever seeking treatment like this again.
UPDATE: Yesterday afternoon, after this review was posted, my Mother received word that the money was put in her bank "last night". This AM my Mother reported that had received a portion of the funds back and the other is coming hopefully soon: today or tomorrow. I am uncertain as to why if the money was coming, they could not give us an return call OR an e-mail confirming so. ANYONE would be anxious about $12,000 when the money was not returned in the time they specified and then they neglect to communicate with you.
The other obvious issue is that my post had to be investigated because this organization falsely stated that I was reviewing a place across the country.
BASICALLY, I feel VIOLATED because this entity that I gave ALL of my most private information about my mental health issues and trauma, not only neglected to have the common courtesy to communicate about a large sum of money that we were anxiously awaiting to receive that we had paid a month earlier, they also refused to acknowledge accountability of their neglect and made a FALSE statement that they were the correct organization. I not only gave them $12,000, but disclosed a lot of personal information in an intake assessment and in some homework they requested.
Having this experience (and quite frankly others when seeking mental health services) has destroyed my confidence and discouraged me from ever seeking help. I have turned to other types of assistance: Yoga Therapy, DBT class, etc. But, will probably not EVER reach out to a center again.
It felt awful for my Mom and me to worry daily if the money would return and once the 30 days expired, it not be there and no one returned our calls or answered our e-mails.
I can't trust an organization that lies about me reviewing the wrong organization, yet, I gave them my whole mental health history and sensitive information. ICK. Violated.
An extremely bad experience. I am relieved the funds are coming back, but feel sick about the whole experience. They also should know that taking that long to return that amount of money possible could prevent someone from going elsewhere when they really need the help. That's all.... I would not recommend this place because they are not trustworthy and you can find a DBT group, meditation classes, yoga therapy, a nutritionist without having to empty your pockets to people who are dishonest and neglect to communicate, causing anxiety and concern when you already have enough issues.

The Center appreciates your strong feelings about you experience, and we feel badly that it has caused stress for you. We are always available to provide referrals for you should you desire treatment in your local area or elsewhere, and we remain available to discuss a recommendation for an appropriate level of care. Wh hope you do get the care that you are seeking.
Respectfully, this reviewer has never been a client of The Center and has never had a legitimate customer experience with our business. We do believe it is helpful to review the specifics of this review as there appears to be a misunderstanding of our requirements, by law, as to how we can interact with a prospective client.
The Center was approached by the reviewer's mother who was interested in having her daughter come to our facility for care. We spoke with the reviewer afterward, and forwarded her paperwork to complete so we could continue the process. It was not returned. We have subsequently never received any correspondences from the reviewer.
By law, we must receive correspondence from the individual seeking treatment to begin a formal evaluation to determine suitability for treatment. This initial step was never completed.
Our interaction was primarily with the reviewer's mother who seemed excited and desirous for her daughter to come to our facility. The mother sent $12,000 to reserve a spot in hopes that her daughter would decide to come.
When the daughter/reviewer ultimately decided not to come, the mother requested the deposited money be returned. Once requested, The Center waived all administrative fees and returned 100% of the money on time, and when agreed upon by both parties. The reviewer notes the money may have arrived a few days after anticipated. This is likely due to bank transfers which can take several days to populate, but the money was sent on the date both parties agreed.
The mother is the only individual with whom The Center interacted and, as such, this review is not submitted by a person who has had any legitimate customer or client experience with our facility.
We do wish you peace and hope you find a quality center for your care.
