I’m giving Andrews FCU 1 star only…
I’m giving Andrews FCU 1 star only because 0 stars wasn’t an option. This credit union has been extremely disappointing from a customer-service standpoint. I worked with Andrews FCU for nearly two years while planning to purchase a home, and when it came time to close, they were unable to match the rates and terms being offered by competitors. The closing process was also unnecessarily long and involved what I felt were excessive requirements. During the process, I was made to feel guilty for considering another lender, and ultimately I stayed with Andrews largely because of that pressure. Unfortunately, my experience after getting the loan has been just as frustrating. During the loan process, I was specifically told that a recast would be an option and that it could be completed immediately after making a large principal payment. However, once I actually requested the recast, the process became unnecessarily difficult and drawn out. The delays ultimately cost me at least a $1,000 in additional interest. This was especially frustrating because the ability to recast quickly was one of the factors I relied on when choosing Andrews. Another major concern is the lack of transparency regarding mortgage servicing. The mortgage remains with Andrews FCU, but Andrews outsources its mortgage servicing/customer calls to another company. This was not clearly explained to me during the loan process. When I later needed to make a large payment, I received an email with wire instructions from a company I was unfamiliar with rather than directly from Andrews. The communication did not clearly identify Andrews FCU, which created a serious security concern. Given how common mortgage wire fraud is, I found it extremely concerning that the process could leave a customer questioning whether a communication about a large payment is legitimate. Overall, my experience has been frustrating from the loan origination process through mortgage servicing. I expected much better communication, transparency, and customer service from a credit union I had worked with for such a long time.
