Went in and got an approval and credit amount so I purchased a living room set. When I went back into the store to sign the contract and arrange for delivery, I find out that the interest rate is 189%. WTF!! I don't have bad credit and only did the payment route to avoid pulling the entire 3500 from my accounts...after seeing that interest rate, I promptly went and paid the entire balance...had I not done so, I would have been on the hook for paying over 11,000 dollars for 3500 dollars in merchandise. Ridiculous!! If they had told me up front what the interest was, I would have paid for everything from my checking account. It gave the appearance of deception and a lack of transparency. Ran more like a predatory loan factory versus a loan company that actually extends credit based on actual creditworthiness.

Consumers deserve stronger protections to prevent fraud before it happens, not just after it is reported.
