Unprofessional and dishonest business tactics
Stay away from this company. I forgot to look at the reviews beforehand, so I just saw the very low price they gave me for shipping my car and chose to proceed. Before I paid for the insurance deposit, I explicitly confirmed with the agent, Denver, about the pricing, and he confirmed all of it, so I paid the insurance deposit. A couple days later, I get a series of emails from him where he mentions how factors like the Iran conflict and other things are making it difficult to find a good price, but that he would not pass that onto me. Finally, though, he comes back to me saying he's "pleased" to have found me a price that was three times the agreed upon price. I told him that this price did not work and was not what we agreed upon, and that if he was going to go with that price then I wanted a refund on my deposit. He then proceeded to damage control and say that he would talk with his team and try to get a lower price, but at this point I just said this was completely unprofessional and that I wanted a refund or I would request a chargeback. He continued to try to negotiate, so I requested a chargeback and told him to direct any further contact to my credit card company and that there would be no pickup. The next day I get a call from my contact in the other state saying someone was calling him about picking up my car. Apparently this was the carrier that Denver worked with (EA Hauling Inc), and I guess he didn't let him in on the fact that I canceled. My contact relayed this information to the carrier, who got frustrated about us working with another broker and that they suffer because they drove here in vain. It would seem to me this frustration should have been directed at American Auto Haul for engaging in dishonest business tactics and not letting him know we canceled. Denver then reached out to my contact as well to try to get him to agree to the pickup, which was extremely out of line given my contact was just there for the hand-off and did not have the authority to authorize that purchase which I had explicitly canceled. Do yourself a favor and pay the extra for a well-established and reputable car shipping company.
