My husband heart surgery in 2025; over a year and a half later, AmBetter is going back and stopping payment on claims they'd previously covered.
AmBetter needs to change their name to AmWorse. Save yourself a ton of grief and thousands of dollars when they go back on their word!

Absolutely the worst experience I have…
Absolutely the worst experience I have ever had. They covered almost nothing. Their prices rise dramatically. Their customer service is HORRIBLE. They then charged me twice for two months (total of $1,083 each month) to which I had to call and get refunded on. They lied and told me they couldn't cancel because I bought through a marketplace (which I didn't). They tried to transfer me there, so I said called back and the woman said sorry our colleague lied. They then cancelled by Aug 26, but said I will be charged until Aug 31. I said no, I want my money back for those last few days which I will not be getting serviced for. They are absolutely atrocious. Such crooks and scammers. Do not buy insurance with them.

Horrible customer service
Horrible customer service. Each call gets different answers to same question. Claims denied. Representatives speak VERY little English. This company should be ashamed of themselves.

Better to pay more to get better health coverage
To make this review I had to hot a star. It don't deserve one star! 3 times I set up auto pay and all 3 x they did not do their job and complete auto pay. So I find out 2 to 3 months later when I go to the doctors and they hit me with the full amount. Not many doctors except ambetter so it hard to find a good doctor... don't get me started about there app. Never can get in it. I've learned you get what you pay for. I don't advice anyone to get ambetter.

Their myhealthpays rewards portal is always down
This company could be good, but they have a lot of issues with their websites. For example, their myhealthpays portal is always down, so often you cannot access it. I have written to them over a dozen times this year about it always being down. They never do anything about it, just excuses always. I tell them not to call me, email, and they call so much, but their number shows up as spam, so I do not answer. I prefer email better, not calls. The insurance could be good, it is easy to do on the Marketplace, I just wish the government would make them be more efficient and fix their website to operate. For example now, when I log in, my insurance card shows an error showing for several months now. They have a lot of problems with their website. Calling and communicating with them too is problematic. The insurance seems decent, and I like the reward program, when you can get it to work, they sometimes take a long time to load you money to your rewards card. They need to up their game and improve their website experience. They have a lot of tech problems.

Ambetter is not better. It is worst insurance ever. Garbage!
Since the beginning of the year, I haven't had access to Repatha, the medication that was helping me control/treat my specific high cholesterol conditions and lower cardiovascular risks for 9 years. Before I started Repatha, I had 6 stents and quadruple bypass surgery. Because statins cause severe pain reactions and make me immovable, I became one of the early patients on Repatha. On Repatha, my total cholesterol was 133 mg/dL; now, courtesy of Ambetter, it is 270 mg/dL; triglycerides went from 95 to 217; Cholesterol/HDL Ratio went from 3.2 to 6.8; LDL went from 84 to 189. My EKGs now show inferior myocardial infarctions. I cannot breathe; I cannot walk without being short of breath. I developed CHF and more.
Since the beginning of the year, I don't have access to Mounjaro/Zepbound. My HbA1c level went from 5.8 to 7.8%. Now, daily, I experience fatigue, thirst and dry mouth, increased urination and trying to make it to the bathroom, erectile dysfunction, increased hunger, numbness and tingling in feet and hands, urinary tract infections, and more. My severe sleep apnea (38 breathing stops per hour) became even more severe. I can't sleep because I can't breathe.
Today, went to see my orthopedic surgeon for the pre-op. I had my hip replacement surgery scheduled for August 26th. My surgeon said that he has never, in 30+ years of practice, seen insurance not authorize a surgery that is medically necessary and can improve a patient's quality of life. Who are those 'doctors' who question the medical decisions of licensed, real, practicing Medical Doctors with decades of experience? Really, who are these 'medical doctors' who decided to keep me in bed until I die?

Dr. will no longer accept...
This insurance is so bad that my provider will no longer accept them. They are fleecing their customers and have crappy customer service.
