My overall experience was amazing. I was able to learn about a new culture that I knew little about. The group I went with was awesome. It was fun to go with a group of people that were from different parts of the US because as we explored a new country, we were able to develop new relationships with one another. My favorite thing I learned was how to use my camera. I have always been interested in photography but I never knew anything about the settings on the camera. It was cool to learn from a professional photographer, who was very experienced and knowledgeable. My love for photography grew on this trip, for sure! AIFS does a good job coordinating with the University so we are able to experience the popular destinations in South Africa.

My experience in Granada, Spain over J term was one of the best experiences of my life thanks to the meticulous planning and preparation of AIFS staff. Noelia and Alberto were extremely welcoming and always were there to help all students through the program.

My experience in Madrid was one of the best experiences of my life. I wouldn’t change a thing.

Working with AIFS to accomplish my goal of studying abroad was better than I could have asked for! The staff was so helpful and always ready to answer my many questions! They genuinely care about their students and want to make sure you get the most out of your experience. They also put student safety on the top of their list of priorities which made myself and my parents very comfortable leading up to my trip and while I was abroad. Overall, I had a great experience with AIFS! I’ve recommended them to many friends, and I hope to study abroad with them again in the future!

Studying with AIFS changed my life. I lived in Rome and studied at the Richmond campus. I had the opportunity to meet new people, be exposed to new cultures and environments, and challenged myself more than I ever imagined. I learned independence, adaptability, and a love for living my life to the absolute fullest possible, leaping at any and every opportunity to travel. I have a new perspective and look at the world through a different lens that I had ever before. I appreciate the small things and am grateful of the person I have become thanks to my study abroad experience with AIFS.

AIFS did the best job they could do for me. While I do wish they would have had more cultural integration and less AIFS only activities- I understand that the limitation was largely due to the location and not the program. Still, I think the whole experience was far too catered towards American students, we had nothing in the way of an authentic experience.

My time abroad was fun. I feel that the program could have done a better job in terms up setting up outside activities, connecting us with locals, and support.
