Hours of unpaid work
Hours of unpaid work, no guarantee you'll ever see a cent
I contributed a full task to this platform's "golden dog" program. The advertised pay looks appealing for the described time commitment (240–300 minutes), but that estimate is nowhere close to reality. Just the "difficulty probe" step alone — one of several mandatory gates you have to pass before you can even submit — took over 3 hours to run.
Before that, you have to author the entire task yourself: build a workspace, source and archive public evidence, write claims, a reference answer, and a full rubric, then pass a chain of automated and human QA checks (AI-authorship detection, artifact/rubric QA, reference-answer grading, the difficulty probe, then reviewing and grading multiple model rollouts) before you're even eligible to submit for review.
I did all of that. My task passed every single gate. And then, before I could finish the final submission, the platform "paused data collection," and my task simply disappeared from my account — no warning, no explanation. I reached out to ask what happened to my work and whether my data was still being held, and got no real answer.
To make it worse: even the platform's own instructions state that passing every check does not guarantee payment. So you can spend upwards of 4-5+ hours of genuine, skilled work, pass every quality bar they set, and still walk away with nothing — while they keep whatever data and content you submitted.
This is not a "gig with variable pay." This is unpaid labor disguised as a paid opportunity, with no accountability when things go wrong on their end. I would not recommend this to anyone considering their time valuable.

Afterquery is a scam
I spent 10 hours working on a project which they 'invited' me to, 'Project Golden Dog', which was very complex and difficult to do. After completing the task, when it came to submitting the project, there was a persistent error which prevented the project from submitting. I tried several times and their system could not submit the project. I eventually decided to contact support and alert them of the issue, and they never responded. Since it was already late at night, I decided to sleep and attempt to submit the project in the morning, only to find a message in the project dashboard that they had paused submissions. I felt like my time and energy had been wasted. This is not the first time this has happened with them. I have decided never to take on any project with them again, and I would advise you to do the same. Their platform is a waste of time at best, and a scam at worst, and I've had this complaint from other people as well, so save your sanity, time, and energy and don't do anything with afterquery, they are probably a scam making people do tasks and using the tasks without paying.

They opened up a project named project…
They opened up a project named project Aid and after hours of working on the project and submitting tasks, they removed the project without paying a dime

High pay advertised, but wage suppression is the reality
I lasted a day with this company. I applied through LinkedIn as a doctoral researcher, attracted by the advertised pay rate of $100 to $180 per hour. However, what I earned over the course of my day with this company was $120 total, barely above the minimum wage for my state – hence my exit. The reasons for this were: undisclosed task caps that were never in the job description; an automated checker that blocked the most sophisticated prompts (precisely the work PhD researchers would naturally produce); domain closures without notice; compensation tied to work accepted rather than work actually done; vague promises of scaling that never materialised. The effect of all this was wage suppression, and a feeling that high-quality data from PhD-level contributors had been extracted without fair recompense. For these reasons I'd urge researchers to be cautious about onboarding with this company, or to give the company a miss entirely.
