The Whistle B.
Stiffed me $700 for delivered work, then came up with the flimsiest excuse imaginable
Avoid AfterQuery. Unprofessional, inconsistent and a complete waste of time. If I could give zero stars, I would. In my experience, this company treats the experts who build its product as disposable, with no respect, no care and no regard for them as people. I worked as a Finance Domain Expert, building and reviewing tax and personal-finance tasks used to train AI models. My last two tasks were completed and reached "Delivery Ready" status. Then, with no warning and no conversation, my account was "permanently terminated" for an unspecified "confirmed violation." What violation? They wouldn't say. Support invited me to appeal and listed exactly what to send. Within two hours I sent two government IDs, my resume and a full explanation. For six days, their AI support bot, "Fin," sent contradictory messages: first there was "no appeal process," then my case had been "passed to a person," then came another canned "final and irreversible" message. When a person finally replied, the decision was final, no reason would ever be given, and support "cannot change or appeal it." That same email promised that earnings for work completed before the closure would still be paid. So I asked for my $700. They sent me a payment ticket that asked for task IDs and payment-page screenshots from an account they had already locked me out of. I filed it anyway. Shortly after, the answer came back: the project team now claimed my account had "materially misrepresented" my professional qualifications, so the two tasks were "not eligible" for payment. When I asked what exactly was misrepresented, they said they "cannot provide additional details." I never claimed any credential I don't hold, and the role didn't require one. Think about that sequence. No reason when they closed my account. "Your earnings are safe" when they denied my appeal. Then, the moment I asked to be paid, a new accusation that cancelled the payment, with no detail on what was supposedly misrepresented. Whatever their reasons, a company that marks your work Delivery Ready, promises your earnings are safe, and then refuses to pay without explanation is not one I'd trust with my time. Don't expect real answers from their support either. In my experience, their automated system sends random, contradictory replies, and the people you worked with simply go silent. Incompetence and irresponsibility were the only consistent things about my time there. Experts, protect yourselves: keep copies of everything, never rely on this platform as your only income, and think twice before handing them your time, your documents or your expertise. Other AI platforms verify you properly, communicate clearly, pay what they owe and treat you like a human being. AfterQuery is not one of them.
